Heartburn And Vomiting

I'm 38 weeks, the whole of this pregnancy I've been vomiting from time to time and getting heartburn, but I've now got to the stage where the heartburn is so bad that no anti-acids help and about 2-3 hours after I eat anything I'm in so much pain until I vomit everything up. This evening at the end of vomiting I noticed a bit of red, I haven't eaten anything red today and am worried that it might have been blood, I feel the baby moving as usual. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Should I go to the hospital to get checked?

if you are vomitting blood, you should definately call the hospital to go get checked out. vomitting blood is never a good thing.

Hi Cubbie - Im 39 weeks now and feeling sick too but not actually vomiting - I did suffer terribly in the 1st trimester though and got admitted into hospital for vomiting blood - they kept me in overnight but thought it was just trauma to my throat (i.e. I've vomited so much that Ive actually cut up the inside of my throat)....but I'd definitely check it out as you never know....it's a horrid experience - I really feel for you....

I also vomited with my last baby when I got heartburn - call the doc just to check maybe you have torn/damaged some of your internal stomach linings

Thank you! I went to the hospital and everything is ok. Also I learned last night that to drink a cup of water with half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda helps, so I tried it before I went to bed and I haven't had heartburn since!

I so feel your pain, my heartburn would get so bad that I just couldn't move and the pain kept building until I would vomit. And I would throw up so hard that it hurt but once I was done the heartburn and pain were gone. I found that anti-acids actually seemed to make it worse for me, gas-x, rolaids, tums etc. My doctor put me on prevacid 15mg and as long as I take it before I eat or even as I start to feel the heartburn coming on it will make it go away.
