I understand that the later you are in yuor pregnancy the amount of fetal movement slows down...well I was wondering at 39 weeks how much the baby should be moving, because in the last few days it has slowed down quit a bit, I get an elbow or a knee roll every now & then but nothing like I used to... any help would be great ... thanks so much

5 times in one hour is the minimum I was told.

actually it is 10 times in 1 hour ~ if the baby moves less than 10 times within 1 hour period contact your physician a.s.a.p., that is a sign that something maybe wrong. Even if you have a doppler at home and check the fetal heartbeat, the heartbeat maybe strong and rythmic but unless the baby is active it maybe a sign....contact your physician for further questions

If you are in your 39th week of pregnancy this is normal. Your baby is getting ready for labor and conserves energy, labor isn't only hard for you it also takes alot out of your baby. Not to mention he/she hardly has any room to move. But on average you should feel at least 12 movements in every 10hr period. If you have any concerns or want to clear your mind go see your doctor or midwife thats what we are there for. Good luck on the birth of your bundle of joy.
