How Should Baby Be Laying At This Point

I'm 38 weeks, and at my dr. appt yesterday, she said the baby was head down, and when I was laying on my back, the baby's back was facing the ceiling. In other words, if the baby were outside my body, we'd be facing each other. Does that make sense? When the baby comes out, is there a certain way they should be facing? I.E. - face at the floor or face at the ceiling? Thanks!

At this point it doesn't really matter which way the baby faces, as long as it's head down. When you're in labor and the head comes out, you want the baby's face facing the floor. It's the best way for the head to come out, since it can mould to the birth ca___l. So up until you're in labor the baby can turn back and forth facing you then away from you. I know mine does all the time, and I'll be 38 weeks on Sunday. Good luck!

Sounds like your baby is facing the way she/he should. They should be head down, face down to fit through the pelvis. Though babies are born face up, which I heard causes major back labor...

Actually, I've read that you want the baby's face, facing you with head down. If the baby's head is facing you, you can have really painfull labour and delivery because the baby's head is sc___ping against your pelvis as it comes down the birth ca___l, which is the back labor!
