I woke up this morning on my belly. Do you think everything is ok. He is a little slow this morning, but do you think I have harmed him? I hate when I do that. I get so restless, that I'll try any position, and then I feel bad. Please help.

I also feel bad when i lay on my baby as well. I don't wake up on my belly alot but when i did, my baby was on the right side bunched up and not moving. I was so scared, i thought i had hurted her. But right now she is kicking like crazy but it still bothers me because she may be kicking now but if i continue laying on her she want be kicking anymore. They say it doesn't hurt the baby when your not showing too much but when you start to show more, then it's not good putting so much pressure on the baby. Hopefully someone 's post will help.

that was helpfull lol, im sure ur bubbie is just fine! its the back laying that poses the real problem.

Really dee23 I thought that you were only hurting yourself if you layed on your back? I haven't been able to get real comfortable as both hips have been really painful the last week or so. I have kinda been laying on my back just to get some rest.

i know how hard it can be! sleeping is horrible sometimes.....i guess it is as they say ' mother natures way of preparing us for night feeds!' anywho, parently, when u lay on your back, bubbie is lying on a major nerve or yours, and cause of the weight, it constricts blood flow to both you and the baby.....and i think it does something else also..not too sure, but theres plenty of info about it on the web. i find that with the hip and back pain..the best thing is too sleep with a pillow behind you. that way when u try to roll back, your kinda half on your hip half on your back, and that is so releiving! i hate it when the hips gets so sore that even 5 pillows wont help! first timer to hip pains and they suck! good luck hun.....remember it doesnt last forever :)

thanks dee23, I just read on the net that when you sleep on your back, it not only can raise your blood pressure, and give you digestion problems (which would explain my major heartburn lately) but it also puts major pressure on your nerves and what you said about the blood flow. I am 31 weeks, and can hardly wait (but I will LOL) for this little guy to come.

I wake up on my back every now and again.. I expressed this to my doc and she wasn't concerned... She said don't lay on your tummy though! So i would call your doc just to rea__sure yourself since there is always conflicting information out there.

by the way, when you lay on your back you risk of laying on some major vessels the aorta and vena cava. however, it does not mean for sure that you are. My doc just said to put a pillow under my right hip and its okay.

I agree with Dee23 on the pillow on the back. It surely helps me lie slightly on my back but not entirely and it feelllllsss soooo good!! My midwife had actually mentioned that to me midway through my pregnancy and that that position is ok.
