I know every dr is different. Some let the baby come when it is ready and others push for you to be induced. I am know dr so my knowledge is stuff I read on my own via books and internet and this is my conclusion. They base your due date on the first day of your last menstrual cycle which is based on a 28 day cycle meaning you most likely conceived around cd14. But what about women who have 35-40 day cycles and conceive around cd20 or so. Wouldn't it make sense that the baby would be considered " overdue " ? That's my present scenario. My due date is aug. 2nd and im gonna let him come when he's good and ready. So my question is.....for all the ladies who went beyond 40 weeks, how long on average was your period?

My previous two pregnancies went 41 1/2 weeks and 42 1/2 weeks respectively (and me all packed and ready from 38 weeks onwards). My cycles are regular 28-29 days. Seems more a family thing, my sister, neice and mum all went over 40 weeks and had big babies too.

My first day of my last period was October 6th 2005... 28 day cycle... conceived on October 20th... and due July 13th... these are the dates I was given by my doctor :) I am 36 weeks now. With my daughter my water broke and I went into labor 9 days before my due date.
