THE INDIGESTION IS GETTING HARDER TO DEAL WITH. I HAVE KNOWN PREGNANT WOMEN TO TAKE TUMS. NOW, I AM BEING TOLD BY FRIENDS NOT TO TAKE THEM. THE INDIGESTION KEEPS ME UP ALL NIGHT. WHAT CAN I TAKE TO RELIEVE THIS?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking tums. Just don't exceed the limit. Also, my doctor told me to take Zantac twice a day. It works amazingly!! This is my second pregnancy and I have taken both zantac & tums both times and have 2 healthy children. You don't have to suffer!!

My dr. said tums and pepcid were ok to take. Also Zantac was ok. I have terrible heartburn at night so I usually take a tums before I go to sleep.

I find (and this is a wierd one) that carbonated drinks like fizzy water, or fizzy fruit juice, or squash made with fizzy water helps. I don't know why it just does. Also I have found chocolate, or chocolate with mint helps alot. And youghart/cheese dairy products. Tums are ok if you like them, just no more than 7 in one day! I get really bad heart burn, I know what your going through!

i have been suffering too! I noticed that in a 3 hr period I took the total amount of tums you can take as recommended in 24 hours! I asked my dr. She said to take Pepcid 20 mg (the one WITHOUT antacid in it) one in the morning and one at night. It's been 1 week and I FEEL GREAT! i can tie my shoe without getting heartburn and I can drink water or eat m&m's without the heartburn. I feel like a new woman and boy am I happier. Should have talked to my doctor earlier!

The only thing that helped me with my first pregnancy was giving birth. :-( I ate more than the recommended doses of tums and rolaids and washed it all down with Mallox and Pepto. nothing lasted for long. this round my doctor has prescribed Prevacid and it is AMAZING. I still worry with it occasionally, but NOTHING like I did with my first.

Titrilac helps me a lot and the doc said it was OK. you can get it at Walmart by the tums.

Somewhere I heard that taking tums over time actually makes your heartburn get worse. Could be an old wives tale though, who knows. I have had horrible heartburn both pregnancies. Tried Pepcid, did nothing. Doc finally recommended I try Prilosec (if you find it works for you, it is TONS cheaper to buy the megapack if you are a member of Sam's Club or Costco than at the grocery store!). Worked wonders the first day. I'm now 35 weeks and heartburn is starting to come back a little even on the prilosec, but nothing like it was before. Avoid chocolate and citrusy foods/drinks. But my heartburn totally disappeared the second my baby was born, so there is hope...eventually! : )

Hey ladies.. i posted this in anotehr post....but it is the best cure for heartburn !!.. especially if you dont want to take any prescribed acid reflux medicine while pregnant.... Sounds gross but if you are in as much pain as i have experienced from heartburn youll thank me!
1 heaping teaspoon baking soda in the mouth quickly followed by a whole gla__s of water or as much as you can get down.... It just tastes salty but HEAVENLY!!! No more burn baby!!!
