Is Green Tea Safe To Drink During Pregnancy

Hi...I'll be 32 weeks on Thursday, I thought I was catching a cold on Friday, So I started drinking lots of Reg. Tea & I ran out so I started drinking Green Tea, Does anyone know if it's okay?

YOUR NOT SUPPOSE TO DRINK BECUASE IT PREVENT YOU FROM ABSORBING folic acid which is essentail for you and baby but being 32 weeks i don"t think it will cause any harm now but not to sure ethier

thanks for asking this, i was wondering the same thing...i am already 37 weeks so i dont think i need to worry but i stayed away from it this whole pregnancy just because i didnt know if it was ok or not and now im glad i did!

OMG! I drink Tea all time! Does that apply with the Orange peko (sp?) I guess that would be regular tea right? Also the nurses at the L&D said not to drink Chamomille (sp?) because it can cause contractions.

Earl Grey and Orange Pekoe are prefectly safe during pregnancy you don't have much longer to go to start enjoying green tea agian so just hang on there after i had my dd i had have one of bolthouse green tea lattes yummy

Thanks javidsgirl......Jenn I heard that Chamomille tea is actually good to drink the day you go into labor, It's supposed to help speed the process, So I guess it's true....Margie your a few weeks away how exciting keep us posted :)

Hi Jenn, I'm getting over a cold, It wasnt too bad...And I kind got stuck over there in the new Jenn & Fish forum...hahaha it keeps me awake..lol, Your too funny.....My last day of work is Dec. 28th, But I'm hoping to stay until Jan.11th, I'll see....I'm gonna miss you all when I'm away from this computer, I need to either fix mine at home or buy a new one.....See ya over there in Feb Mama's

I just asked my OB this same ?? at my appt Wed. She said green tea is not an herbal tea, and the only bad thing about it is the caffeine. So just get the decaf version and you'll be fine.

that funny because it was perintologist that tols me it was unsafe because of the folic acid reason but maybe since you are so far along it is ok not sure i just went with what the specialist said since i was high risk
