Jack was born January 11th. I went in to be induced at 2pm. I was already having contractions 5-8 minutes apart, but they were not being very effective as I was still only 2-3 cm. at 4:30pm, they started me on Pitocin. Around 5:30 my contractions started to take my breath away, but I was still able to get throught them. It was at this point that I realized I was already tired and started considering the epidural. At 7pm, I was 5cm and asked for the epi. It was a piece of cake except for the contractions kept coming every minute while the doctor was inserting it. What a difference! I was able to relax and get some rest. I felt pressure but no pain and I able to move and feel my legs. They just felt heavy and like pins and needles (asleep). At 10:15 the nurse check me and I was 10cm but the baby's head was still alittle high and I was not feeling the urge to push so I asked to just "labor down" since Jack was tolerating labor well. Everyone agreed, so I just kept relaxed and pictured him moving further down with each contraction. AT 10:33 the doctor came in and told me to give a practice push and he says, "Oh, I better get ready!" At 10:37pm baby Jack was born. He is beautiful and we love him to pieces! I had one small tear and needed 3 st_tches. He weighed in at 9lbs 2 oz and was 20inches long. Good luck to everyone and hope to talk to you in infant care.

Congrats, that's fantastic! I love the name you've chosen, we were considering it if we have a boy (but unfortunately it doesn't go well with our last name).

Congrats Tinkri! Love the name for your baby. Way to go on advocating for yourself re: Laboring down. I am so surprised when I see this is not done more often. You are precisely the type of mother I posted the thread on laboring down for, and it is so nice to see a happy mom. Those contractions CAN do most of the work as you have demonstrated beautifully!
