With my first child I never got a line going down my stomach and my bellybutton never popped out. Did anyone else not have this happen to them?

Are you talking about the ugly brown crayon line? I have that...but my step-mom said she didn't get it.

Tanya - April 19

I also got it.. its normal though and it will disappear a short while after birth.

I am 38 weeks and I dont have it...and my belly b___ton is still an innie, it is just really flat.

Allison - April 19

Kept my innie with both pregnancies, but I did get a light brown line.

I got the line but I don't mind. It's thin and straight and will go away after the baby is born. My belly b___ton was never really an "inny" to begin with so it sticks out but not that much.

It's funny! I'm starting to wonder if it's a "hair line". I got it with my first and she had a headful of hair. I did not get it w/ my second and she was bald. I got a really dark one w/ my third and she had a ton of hair,,,,, but this time around it only shows slightly and did not appear until one month ago (I'm 37 weeks now). As far as the belly b___ton thing, well, from what I can tell,,,, those who have outties, it does tend to "pop out" the closer you approach birth and for those of us with innies,,,,, well,,, it pretty well stays "in",,,it just appears to be flat and closer to the surface than normal.

That line is there for a reason. If you were to ever have a c-section, the doctors would know where to cut.....and that's on the line.

EM - April 21

Amanda...are you kidding or what! You've got to be! Nowadays when they do a C section they cut horizontal so they wouldn't cut on the line and plus, women have been getting lines on their bellies I'm sure since women started having babies...way before the technology of surgery. Are you just trying to get a response from your answer by being so ridiculous?

OMG,,,,,,, Amanda, honey, I do hope you are just trying to be funny!! If not, please take some pregnancy educational cla__ses, or get online and check out some pregnancy related sites. That is NOT what that line represents. Doctors do not cut you that way,,,,,,, they cut you horizontally~

I have a faint line at 32 weeks. My mom said she got it way darker at 8 months. I'm glad I don't have it though, but it definately goes away.

I have the line but my belly b___ton is just flat. I have a deep innie normally so I don't think mine will be popping out. Considering I was due yesterday, I hope my belly doesn't get too much bigger!

I HAD THE BROWN LINE WITH MY FIRST PREGNANCY BUT I DID NOT HAVE MY BELLY BUTTON STICK OUT. I AM PREGNANT NOW AND I DON'T HAVE THE LINE THIS TIME AND MY BELLY BUTTON HASN'T CHANGED EITHER. I AM ONLY 28 WEEKS SO I WILL PROBABLY BE GETTING THE LINE BEFORE ITS OVER.

I have been told if the like stops when it gets to your belly b___ton you will have a girl and if it keeps going up past you will have a boy. Yours just must be a surprise! That is just an old wives tale, But seriously some people dont get one. No need to be dissapointed. Mine is crooked. It goes up and hits the left side of my belly b___ton and then starts again on the right side and keeps going. Mine is really light too.

I was showing of my belly the other day, and every one laughed at my belly b___ton because it does not stick out and I had no line either.. I did not even know that happens.... But when I lie down my belly b___ton looks like a small volcano...
