Low Back Pain Pelvic Pressure

Hi, I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing pelvic pressure and lower back pain. Both of these are normal symptoms of pregnancy, what's scaring me is that they are occuring together. The other night I woke up and felt mild menstrual like cramps--and some pain shooting down my thighs. I have been to the doctor several times because I've been worried about other symptoms earlier in my pregnancy and she keeps telling me everything is fine. What do the other mommies think??? Should I try to contact my doc again-my next prenatal isn't for another 10 days.

It sounds like you are experiencing pre term labor...though it could just be braxton hicks...if these pains are waking you up, I would call the doc...braxton hicks can feel like pains in your lower back as well, but just to be safe call and check, thats what they get paid for..good luck

I feel for you! I have the same thing. It sounds to me like it is Braxton Hicks, or prem. labour. From what I have been told, it is normal. Also the leg cramps are caused from lack of calcium. Try taking a supplement.

Thank you so much for the input mommies! I was at the doc today, and she says everything appears to be fine, that my pain and misery is just a part of the joy of pregnancy. Why didn't anyone ever tell me about this stuff BEFORE we got pregnant??

I think what your experiencing is a mix of braxton hicks, baby's head engaged, and/or just the fact that you are carrying a baby making your muscles and back and the uncomforts of pregnancy are overwhelming your body. All natural in either case....and ive felt those as well ....all together or not, it tends to heal itself..but at my 37th week, i can say it gets heavier and heavier....just hang in there! We are almost there!

I am 27 weeks with my 3rd child and have been getting lower back pain down into my hips so bad that I can't move, mostly happens at night. I have NEVER had pain so bad I go back to the OBGYN next monday (the 24th). I have taken tylenol for the pain but that doesn't touch it the only thing that seems to help is to lay over top of my body pillow folded, on my knees and rock side to side. I know that I am already dialated a finger tip but they think that everything is ok. the only way I can think of to describe the pain is it feels like someone has run me over with a car! The pain knocks the breath out of me and is so bad that It is near impossible to move, in fact my husband has to help me get to my knees to help relieve the pain, and that is only temporary. I usually wake back up in the middle of the night with the pain so bad that I am right back where I started from.

Hey Naomi, Sounds like you might have...ah man, I can't remember what it's called. It comes down to the hormones progesterone and relaxin as loosened the ligaments too much, which makes your hips seperate, and causes the pain. I hope the OB/GYN can help..and I wish you the best in your pregnancy.
