Mucus Plug Or Water Breaking

I woke up and felt unnaturally wet, so I went the bathroom and felt it was necessary to change both my underwear and my shorts. I am almost 37 weeks pregnant and nowhere near ready to have this baby. (In fact I was going to go buy the necessities for my labor bag tomorrow.) I haven't felt any significant leakage since and have not experienced any noticeable contractions or pre labor symptoms. I was wondering and hoping that this was just my mucus plug and if it might be easy to jump to conclusions assuming it could be my amniotic sac.

It's more than likely that it's regular prgnancy discharge. This is my second pregnancy, and I've had larger quant_ties of discharge throughout my pregnancy, BUT at around 35 weeks I felt a gush and checked my underwear -- there was an enormous amount of it, I could tell it wasn't my water by testing the smell and the consistency of it (amniotic fluid is supposed to have a sweet smell and be off white in color). Another thing is that it didn't keep leaking - like a bag of broken waters would. Since then I've had that happen about 2 different times.

But if you aren't sure it's always best to call your doctor.

I would always always check with your doctor. It takes about 2 seconds for your doctor to determine if it was your water. They just use a peice of litmus paper to check the ph levels. My water broke at 35 weeks with my now 2 year old and I didn't think it was my water at first b/c it was just a little and didn't continue to leak. My mom and dh made me go to the doctor and sure enough it was my water and I had my son the next day. IMO it is always bettter to be safe than sorry.
