My SIL S Birth Story

Here's to you dueJan1607 LOL. There haven't been many birth stories lately... stubborn babies ;-) Anyway, my SIL just had her baby on Friday night. She's 42 and has an 11yo girl and a 17yo girl already. She began having ctxns. just before 6 pm on Friday the 12th. They (VERY) quickly became close together and she decided it was time to head to the hospital. Only problem... she had to go NOW and my BIL was at work... too far away to get home in time to take her. So, she made my 17yo niece drive her in lol. She basically made it in the door, into a wheelchair and then onto a bed and had the baby... she was born somewhere around 8:00-8:30pm!!!! She was 6 lbs. 12 oz. 19 1/2". Can you imagine how stressed out my niece was? Anyway, she apparently never delivered the placenta and required a D&C, but is ok now. Baby was spitting up blood, but they observed her in NICU and decided she had just swallowed some blood while being born (EW, I know... TMI). Anyway, baby is now doing wonderfully and they were supposed to come home yesterday... haven't heard otherwise, so I think they are home now.

She was surprised how quickly it happened. My MIL (her mother) had my husband when she was 43 and had a really hard time of it and long labor, so that what my SIL was expecting. Expect the unexpected, I guess lol.

Congratulations to your SIL and thanks for the birth story! :) Quite the experience! I hope they're all doing well!
