On Inducing With Castor Oil

I was reading so many posts on castor oil, and everyone says different things about it, so I went to the library to find something out in books. I found this book called "Ina Mays Guide to Childbirth" she is the nation's leading midwife and has delivered 2,200 babies so I'm sure she knows what she is talking about. Anyway it says in here "...taken orally, castor oil acts as a laxative, and the stimulation of the digestive tract often starts labor at term...nevertheless, castor oil seems to be quite safe...we recommend beginning a castor oil induction at breakfast after a full night of sleep...one tablespoon of castor oil is added to scrambled eggs or is mixed with fruit juice to make it more palatable for the woman...if necessary, she takes one more tablespoon on hour after ingesting the first". I left some parts out, she was just talking about how they don't research it that much, because there is no money to be done from it. So basically it only could work if you are AT TERM, meaning after 37-38 weeks. Hope this helps someone.
