I'm going for my 2nd GD test tom. I was pretty high on the first, 9.2. This is my second pregnancy, in my last pregnacy I was 8.7 and had to do the 2nd 2 hour test and I pa__sed. I'm really hoping I will pa__s this time too but I have gained more weight this pregnancy than last, plus I got pregant within 2 months after giving birth to my first so I didn't get to loose all my weight. I am also interested in the answer to Danielle's question, incase I have GD, Also Danielle what sort of a diet do you have to follow? Do you have to test your blood everyday? I'm really hoping I pa__s but incase I don't, I will look at it as a way to improve on my diet by eating healthier. Good luck to you.

I was admitted to be induced 4 days early because my sugar levels started to go crazy towards the end. Baby was 8lb 10ou born and i had him naturally. I have heard that its more Tpe II diabetics, not gest diabetics who have really huge babies. And its not about your body weight so much as your pelvis that matters so tiny people can have big bubs without a problem. Just try to control your sugars between now and then, not long to do and estimates of birth weight, even with u/s can be way off!

Some more info, I was diagnosed at 30 wks (1 hr then 3 hr gluc test) with my first p/g, and could not control it by diet. I started insulin at 33 wks. Was testing blood sugars and injecting insulin 4 times per day, and having to write down all I eat and stick to a planned diet. This p/g ( I am 37 wks 2moro) I started feeling thirsty and tired at 24 wks and started testing my sugars. Dr started me on insulin again next appt.. so its been a while this time.. will be glad to have it over. They blood test your bub every couple of hrs for the first 24 after they are born just to check but my son was fine and I am hoping this one (a daughter) will be too. Its really not that bad, and like Tanya2 said its a good learning experience to eat healthier. You don't eat less food, u just need to eat more often (b'fast, morning tea, lunch, aftt tea, dinner, supper - it feels like u r always eating) and its best to cut down on carbs (pasta, potato) and switch from white bread and flour to wholemeal/grains. And of course cut out sugar.

tanya same happened to me had a high 1 hour then a normal 3 hour but then they re did the 3 hour 4 weeks later because the hour was so hgh and that 3 hour was positive for gd i have to test my blood in the morning and 2 hours after evey meal and i have to only eat 60 carbs at each meal and 15 carbs at snack and no sugar or things that have alot of sugar in then its really suck because with out carbs i never feel full

Danielle, thanks for the info, the diet is really strict, I don't know if i can do it. I did my 2 hour test today and hope its negative. Good luck to you and I admire your strength and discipline.

Danielle, I will be 29 weeks on Saturday. I probably won't get the results until next week since tom is Friday and by the time the lab mails in my results to my doc, probably earliest next Weds. Hopefully I pa__s, if not it might be a good thing in a way that i forced to watch my diet but horrilbe that I will have to poke myself a couple of times a day. You could have your baby very soon. My daughter came one week early, I was so happy with that. Hopefully this little guy will also be a couple of days early. That way there is not too much anticipation as compared to when you've pa__sed your due date, wondering everyday 'is today the day'. Take care and good luck to you.

Tanya don't worry about the poking its not that bad you get use to it, yea i hope he comes very soon if hes not here by the 20th im getting induced, which is fine with me i just want him out

I was diagnosed some time during wk 24, had a pretty healthy diet ever since and then gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy who weighed 5.7 lbs. My labor wasn't any 'different' from what it would have been without GD..To console you: during the last month of my pregnancy, I put on about 2-3 lbs every week, but obviously that didn't seem to affect baby's size in the end.
