what does it mean for your Dr to feel your belly and say your plus 3????

I could be wrong, but I think it has to do with how far down the baby's head has dropped. I was watching a baby story just this morning and they were saying "minus one" or "plus one." They were referring to how far down the baby's head was.

plus three means that the baby is still really high up in the pelvis

Thanks I thought it had something to do with the position of the baby, it's kinda funny he told me how high up the baby was heck I coulda told him that! She's constantly kicking me in the ribs.

The negative stations are when the baby is high up. Zero station is when the baby's head is even with the ischial (sp?) spines in your pelvis. Once you get into positive stations your probably in labor. The baby will crown at plus 2 or 3. Best wishes all.

I just did some research and i think that you should talk to your doctor about what that means?? I googled plus three and here is what i got "During the last month, your health professional will estimate how far the baby's head has moved down into (engaged) the pelvis. This is measured in “stations.” A baby is at –3 station when the head is out of the pelvis and at 0 station when the head is at the bottom of the pelvis (fully engaged). The baby is at +3 station when the head is beginning to emerge from the birth ca___l (crowning)." I have a friend whos doctor only does externals.....i dont know how they can accuratly tell dialation?? You should talk to your doctor
