Hi yes I have and they gave me some kind of medication to stop the contractions and also an IV since I was dehydrated.

I went into PTL at 23 weeks. They did Brethine shots, which did not work. So, they admitted me to L and D and started Magnesium Sulfate. This worked for a day or two. Then, after they stopped it, I started contracting again so I went back on Magnesium for 2 days. I then was put on IM Progesterone shots, which I still get weekly. They have worked well, as I am now 32 weeks. Oh, I forgot......before I was admitted to the hospital, I was taking Procardia every 6 hours for contractions and was on modified bedrest.

I first went into ptl at 24 weeks (I'm 28 now) because of a kidney infection and bacterial vaginosis. I was put on heavy iv fluids, 2 different antibiotics, and smooth muscle relaxers. This worked till about 26 weeks when it started again and they put me back on iv fluids, and iv Magnesium for a couple days. I'm also on modified bed rest and have to drink as much water as I absolutley can.

Drew, be careful with drinking water...you can drink too much. I had pylonephritis, a kidney infection from weeks 20-30 that put my in the hospital ER 4 times vomiting, doubled over in pain, and with a temp fluctuating from hypothermic to 104 in 2 hours. If you drink too much water your organs can swell causing even death, and at least severe organ damage. Listen to your body, if you feel sick from water, quit drinking! Another woman on this board's father died bc the Dr pushed him to drink too much water bc of a kidney infection. Its good to flush the bacteria, but dont overdo it!
