Okay, I had my 32 week check up today.. everything was good.. He said something about doing something different at my 36 week appt. He had a name for it, but it wasn't the internal cause he said that he started that at 38 weeks.. I kinda think it might have had the word "culture" in it. I must not have been paying close enough attention, cause I have no idea what it could have been.. Any ideas???

It could be a bacterial culture for Group B Streptococcus. I copied this from labtestsonline.org : To best a__sess the risk of infecting the baby at delivery, the mother is screened for Group B strep between 35 and 37 weeks gestation. Specimens from the mother’s v____al and rectal areas are collected and within 24 to 48 hours the laboratory can determine if Group B strep bacteria are present.

Most likely it's testing for GBS, the group B streptococcal infection. They will take a culture, swab of your v____a and rectal area, at 36 weeks to see if you’re positive and if so, you will be given antibiotics during labor to decrease the risk of transmitting the infection to your baby.

sounds like GBS or maybe just a urine culture

Yup! I'm having a culture at my next visit (35 weeks), but not an internal exam. They just swab you, but don't put a hand inside to check for anything else. It's for GBS.
