Question About Second Baby Dropping

I know that you are only supposed to "drop" early with your first baby, and then only with labor after that. But my question is if I didn't ever drop with my first, might I drop a few weeks early with this one? Why does only the first one drop? Anyone know anything about this?

I am in week 38 with pregnancy #4 -- i dropped with ALL of my pregnancies. A very noticeable drop I might add.

anu, no, a c-section is not a must if you don't drop! My baby didn't drop until well into labor the first time around. It might mean the baby is posterior - which was the case with me, but that doesn't mean you need a c-section. It just means you might have a longer labor and you might need 2-3 hours of pushing. Don't let anyone scare you into surgery unless it is a true emergency!

This is my 1st baby and last night i had strange contractions like my stomach was gonna burst out and they were so regular we went to emergency labor section and they told me u r getting ready for birth the cervix is soft and thin but not dilated at all and also my baby is very well high"not dropped" or engaged..it was disappointment but they said it's gonna be sooner than my due date..so what i mean to say is that i don't think it's necesarry that only 1st baby drops or the baby to drop until the time of labor
