Real Contractions Or Braxton Hicks

Yesterday I had pain that started at the top of my belly and flowed throughout and down into my pelvic area. it lasted about 20-30 seconds and i had two of them about 3 mins apart, but no more after that. They took my breath away it was like a tight squeezing pain that made it unable for me to talk. Is this a "real" contraction? I have had the cramping kinda like menstrual cramps but the two I had yesterday were different...they hurt. What do you think? I am 35 weeks

Could be braxton hicks, although braxton hicks usually is felt on the sides and on your abdomen and it's a tight "balling" feeling. Whereas real contractions start from the top of your belly and move down into your pelvis, just as you said. Just be aware of when these happen and time them. The next time you see your doctor which should be next week for you? Mention this to your doctor and tell him/her how many times your felt this and how far apart they were.

I actually had an appt. today. She confirmed that they were braxton hicks. And that if I get 4 or more in about an hours time then I need to call or just go to the hospital. I haven't had any since, I just was unsure because I had never felt them before. Thanks!
