Regeneration Of Mucus Plug

Hello ladies. I need some input on this. I will be 40 weeks tomorrow, but I was told by my doctor at 36 weeks, that I had lost my mucus plug. I had noticed discharge over the course of a few weeks around that time and so when doc told me the plug was gone, I knew that is what it had been. However.... yesterday and today I have had a ton of discharge again. It does not smell bad (so it is not an infection) and it looks like the discharge I had around 36 weeks... just more of it! What is this?? I've heard that the mucus plug can regenerate itself if it goes early and the body does not go into labor. Has anyone heard of this happening? I would really appreciate any information anyone might have.

As far as I know, the mucus keeps regenerating even after you "lose" it and all throughout labour (?). I think you will keep losing it right up until you go into labour because it just keeps on making more.

I lost it in a semi-big amount around 36 weeks. Then nothing much for the last month. Just yesterday and today now, it has come out A LOT. The funny thing is, doc didn't say I was closed up again or anything.
