What does the doctor do when he sc__pes the membranes?

The doctor will basically sc___p at your mucus plug which covers your cervix. Uncomfortable to go through, but not that bad. You could have spotting after they do it. I didn't spot, but on the other hand it didn't help me dialate or deliver on time either.

I am 35 weeks along, and my Doc did it with my first baby when I was 37 weeks and I delivered right away. I didn't have any spotting. It felt like he did a sloppy internal exam.

Sc___pping or Stripping of the membrane is when the doctor seperates the water bag from the uterus. I had it done a few day ago. I thought it was a little painful. I had spotting for about 2 1/2 day afterwards. But it didn't help put me in labor.

why don't they just break your water instead of sc___ping your membranes??

I am 37 weeks and the doctor wants to sc___p my membranes to try and throw me into labor. What is this proceedure and does it work?

My doc. told me that she could sc___p the membranes only when you are 2 cm.....which makes sounds right because how else would she get up there? It suppose to bring on labor any where within 24 hrs. to 5 days.....It's doesn't work on everyone.
