Should I Be Dialating

I am 39 weeks and I had my cervix checked yesterday. The doctor said my cervix is closed and I am 40% effaced. Should I be dialating already? What can I do to get this baby in the world?

I think it would be nice to dilate by now since the more you do now the less you do during labor but if you're not, then no big deal...I'm 41 weeks 2 days and I'm only 2 cm for the last 3 weeks. I will be induced on Sunday...I wish there was a magic potion to get your baby coming...believe me I've tried it all in the last couple of weeks with obviously no success. Babies have a mind of their own...just hang in there.

I'm at 39 weeks and had an internal done at my last appointment; turns out I'm sitting at 1 cm and 50% effaced (yeah, whoop-do-do, like that matters, since things can speed up in an instant or drag onward for weeks!) But the little one is still firmly rooted in the good ol' "frank breech" position, so we've scheduled a C-section for next Thursday. It does kind of disappointment me, since we were hoping to go with a natural birth (and here we go turning it about 180 degrees in the opposite direction!) but hey, the end result is going to be the same...we'll have a bouncing baby girl to perk up a Thursday morning! :)

Im at 38 weeks and about 3days and i too, got checked and the doctor said i was 1 cm dilated and about 50% effaced, and the doctor suggested me to walk and even have some s_x. So maybe you should try it, hang in there you're almost over!
