Hi ladies, I know skin changes including moles, and skin tags are common in pregnancy, but seriously, they are REALLY ANNOYING!! I have a few tiny ones, not really noticable, but today I found one "down there"...Ummm, hullo!! How irritiating - and sorry TMI, but is there anyone relating to this or what?! I'm so at the end of my tolerance level!! LOL HELP! do these go away after?????

Sometimes they dissapear on their own (I had one under my armpit and I woke up one day and there was a scab there and it was gone)...don't know how, but it was!! I have one "down there" also that I asked my doctor about...I found it shaving one day and FREAKED OUT because I didn't know what it was, and being so pregnant, I could hardly see it even with using a mirror..kinda hard to look over that big belly! So she looked at it and a__sured me it was just a skin tag and that being they would be down there on d-day anyway, she would just numb me up good and remove it for me so I don't have to worry about shaving over it....Kinda funny for me cuz when I had my son, I had a mole on the inside of my leg (like right along the outside of my underwear line) that got huge during pregnancy, so they removed that when I delivered......just weird how I'll be getting something else removed down there during this delivery!

Hi chrissi79........I'm so glas to hear others have this..........I too have skin tags "down there". Wonder to if they will go away. I'm 33 weeks and have had them for a while now. Great thread is right!!

Well thank you ladies...glad to hear i'm not the only one...this is why I love this site! i've read that sometimes they can go away on their own too...and Tammy yeah, me too I was shaving today and that's when I noticed...LOL and the belly DOES get in the way huh?! LOL Jessica -I have one on my nipple too, and god do I want it off!! I noticed 3 tiny new moles that have developed over the latter part of my pregnancy, and one of them is a tag, just darker...I HATE THEM!!! :( Well I'm 39 weeks now so hopefully they will disappear on their own soon, but I will have them taken off if not...NO THANK YOU!!! ;) I haven't told me doc though b/c I always see a different one b/c I'm in a clinic group...so I really haven't thought of it, plus I'm always so rushed too!! Anyhoo...good luck to you all Happy babies and speedy deliveries!! :)

I know if sounds gross, but I have gotten small ones like in my armpits mostly, and I just rip them off. They don't hurt, never come back, and hardly even bleed. Less than popping a pimple. They are really small, so maybe its different than yours.

Tammy276 - January 20

I think if I tried ripping mine off, I would be in a lot of pain!! Its pretty big from being "down there" and all the extra blood flow. Thats why my doc. told me I probably noticed it (and freaked cuz it was so big!!)...I'm wondering if thats what I did to the one under my armpit....Maybe I ripped it off in my sleep or something cuz I woke up and it wasn't there anymore, just a little scab.....who knows!!

chrissi79 - January 20

Yeah, I thought maybe that would work but I don't want to irritate it or make it bleed. That's true probably why the "down there" one is larger than the couple I can barely notice say on my collar bone, or one under my armpit...but I still dont' think I'm going to rip them off..ouch!!! haha

jessicaspatherapist - January 20

i am also glad to hear i'm not the only one! i will NOT be ripping them off though....lol.....that just sounds too painful...especially for the one on my nipple! lol....the ones in my armpits i can deal with and maybe i'll get lucky and shave them off by accident one day....lol!

A quick way to get rid of them is....tie a piece of sewing thread or even dental floss around the base of the skin tag. I know this sounds silly, but in 2 days mine were gone. I had two decent sized ones. The tip of the skin tag will turn black, then just fall off. Didn't hurt at all. Good luck! :-)

hey jussica..i had one on my nipple and had it removed before baby came.....no numbing or anything, they just used a touch of acid stuff on the end and it was gone. Breatfeeding is hard enough without having to worry about that stupid tag! None so far for me this preg....hopefully it stays that way!

kds - I've heard of this but thought it was like an old wives tale or something...

Chrissi this is a great thread because I am going through something as we speak. This is my fourth pregnancy and in my first with my daughter I did get small, very small skin tags on my neck that did fall off either by friction from something after I delivered with the two subsequent pregnancies I really don't remember much about skin tags but in this foruth pregnancy I am going through a lot.. I had a mole or very smooth skin growth on my mid thigh that I think I started to notice right after getting pregnant but can not be sure if it was there right before (I am 29 and a half weeks pregnant and my memory is gone LOL) Well last Friday I was at work and boy did it start to hurt and when I got home it was red and puffy and had swelled to like at least three times the size. I had to put a large bandaid on it in order for it not to rub against my pants which was sheer agony. Anyway then I remembered a small bump or mole down on my b___tock side and then as I was freaking out I found like two on one sid of my inner thigh groin area and three on the spot on the other side they are very small and feel like skin tags or small moles, none of those hurt at all. So I went to the doctor and they said they think the one on my leg is an infected hair folicle but I cannot really see how because it was there before and was small and not painful, she also said it could have been nicked shaving and became infected but that either way it is infected and they put me on Augmenten. I showed her the other ones and she said moles, warts growths can be common in pregnancy and we can have the virus that causes skin warts in us and suddenly they flair up during pregnancy because the immune system is surpressed and we are hotter than normal and sweating more. She said the other growths could be hair folicles or skin tags or a small wart but she is not sure. I then freaked because in researching this I found a lot on genital warts that was really gross. She said she does not think that is what it is since I do not have any in the genital area, labia, v____a, a__s but they are more on the groin thigh area and she said that type like the mucous membrains of the genital area. So they put me on the meds and said I need warm compresses. She also said that the infection could have caused the others to appear. They are checking me on Friday to see if the antibiotic is doing its job and if not they will take a biopsy to find out what they are but that I should not worry. Sure tell me that I am freaking a bit. Anyway they said they are going to check everywhere on Friday the v____a and cervix inside to make sure there is nothing there. Sorry so long but I am so glad to know I am not alone. To the ones who have them down there are they on the genital area? If so did they check your servix and inside your v____a with a light and speculum?

Hi Carly, yikes! You are going thru a lot! That's terrible to have to worry about in the midst of trying have a BABY! Oh man! I have one that is down there, but has not been checked b/c I never get checked at my docs...I only noticed it a few days ago, so I think it might have just appeared, but I will mention it, and if I'm not checked tomorrow at my appt. I will be sure to have them check and remove it if possible when I go in to L&D...not pleasant....don't stress too much, and hopefully everything is fine when they check you on friday. GL

Carly67 - January 23

Chrissy you are 39 weeks and they are not checking you down there for dialation? I don't understand that, at my ob they start checking you every visit in the last weeks and even before to make sure things are okay.

chrissi79 - January 23

Nope, I've not been checked once. I dont' know, sometimes they just don't...I can't understand it myself, but see I don't have one specific ob. My hospital has a clinic - they call them the Group of Seven, as there are 7 docs that rotate the clinic, L&D, Sections, on call etc. So I'm not sure if they wait until 40weeks to start checking or not, but its not been mentioned to me that I'll be checked for dialation. ???? I have an appt. tomorrow morning so i will ask but nothing as of yet,,,,

chriss - January 23

I have only noticed one so far that I hadn't notice before! and am hoping that it goes away after birth, if not, I will have it removed. It's so funny to hear that I am not alone when it comes to having trouble shaving down there, you can't see past the belly to see if your doing a neat job, my husband thinks this is funny! I hate to be "untidy" and I have to inspect myself in the mirror after I shave to make sure that I haven't missed a spot!
