Sleeping Problem

I am 34 weeks pregnant and can't sleep at all. There are days that I can sleep 6 to 8 hours and days that I can't sleep at all. I am not worried about anything, just the thought of not sleeping will harm the baby makes me very anxious.I really don't know what to do and I don't want to take any drugs . I hope this will be over after the baby is born.

iba all i can say, it probably won't be finished with having to get up for midnight feedings and all. The days and night will just melt into one. If drugs are not an option, You really don't want to go that route anyways. Try to take little catnaps during the day. Even if you can't get away from work, just resting can help a little. Your very close to the end now too. When you go in to have the baby consider staying the 3 days they allow, because once you get home alot of new moms will tell you that first week is a busy week. Have a relative spend a week with you after the birth if you can the last thing you want is to get rundown. Iba the worse thing right now you can do is to start stressing right now because that could be affecting your sleep as well if the need be consider having your spouse sleep else where

Im not sure if this would work for you......Try drinking atleast 1 cup of milk (warm) before goin to bed. Any milk would work.....hit 'em up in the microwave for 1 min. then presto.....sip..sip..sip then within a few mins or so....then I bet yah you'll be falling asleep. I am almost 36 wks pg this Friday and Im having the same problem like yours...specially in the middle of the night when I need to go pee and I can't go back to sleep.....its been very hard.....as d-day approaches.

The milk suggestion is a great one. Alot of people don't know that milk has tryptophan in it , same as turkey, so it's a natural sedative.

This will not be over after the baby is born. Your body is actually prepping you for after the baby is born. Mine is prepping me. I'm a few days from 40 weeks, and look at the time of this posting... wee hours of the morning. My heartburn is so bad, I want to make myself puke to relief it! At times like these, ya just gotta laugh or you're gonna scream. lol But both pregnancy & the first, sleepless nights of caring for a newborn are fleeting. This'll will soon be over.

reading you alls posts made me remember when i had my 1st baby. The first 2 months with her a very fuzy. I slept my life away with her. I was only up when she was up. When I had my 2nd I missed being able to nap all the time. An my 2nd didnt sleep much at night. So I got about 3-4 hrs rest a day for almost 8 months, lol. I'm hoping this one sleeps cause night are gonna be my only chance this time. Now that I have a first grader and a toddler, lol. I have a hard time going back to sleep at night after going pee too. I just sit and watch something very boring for about 20 mins then lay down again. I cant do the warm milk. I makes my indegestion worse. I'm taking pepcid 3 times a day now. Hope things get better for you iba.

Try drinking sone chamomile or sleepy time tea. I can't believe it but it actually does work! I would drink it about an hour before you go to bed though, so you're not up peeing all night. And you don't even have to drink a full cup. It honestly does work . Also , sometimes I'll just take one Tylenol, and I have no idea why, but that will help me fall back to sleep.

lol ! try working 8 hrs. a day on your feet in a hospital, 40 hrs. a week ! you will never have a problem :) if that doesnt sound appeeling, then, try exercising throughout the day. and im talking about taking a " stroll" around the block, this will help you dose off. also, try not to get up so late, get up about 8, or 9 o' clock in the am, and then another nap at 12, exercise around 5 or 6, and off to sleep about 10.
