SONOGRAM

MY DOCTOR HAS SCHEDULED ME FOR A 32 WEEK SONOGRAM WHICH WILL BE IN 3 WEEKS. SHE WANTS TO CHECK THE GROWTH. DOES THAT MEAN THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG OR CAN IT BE A WAY FOR THE INSURANCE TO COVER THE COST. I AM SURE IF THERE WAS ANY CONCERN ON HER PART SHE WOULD HAVE DONE IT SOONER RIGHT.

I have had a u/s with all my prenatal visits and they were all included in the doctors bill. I do know that they like to measure the baby, check the amount of fluid, and just check things around this time of your pregnancy. Don't worry, it is more than likely routine.

Ok, I live in Switzerland, so I can't say about the insurance in the US. But, here they do the 32 week ultrasound to check the position of the baby and to do measurements. I know my cousins only had one in the US during their pregnancies and I,personally, feel much better having more. They check the measurements to make sure that head, heart, bones, and stomach are all measuring to size. Mine- I found out was transverse (and still is at 38 weeks), but thanks to the growth measurements I am more sure that the baby will be healthy.

Hi tammy, I am having my 32 wek u/s next week. it is totally normal. be glad, some drs, don't do it from what i have been reading. It does not mean anything is wrong, they are just going to check the weight and growth of the baby, which is a good thing, it is too bad not every dr. does it. My insurance is covering it, i had to ask the sonogram place first, if not my dr. was going to call and getg it approved. if your dr. recommended it , your insurance should cover it. I am just so excited to get another peak at my little boy! Good Luck.

I think.....as long as your doctor prescribed it..theres nothing to worry about if your insurance will cover it or not...it will definitely be included in there. its not like you had request it.....so that makes the difference and for sure you will need to pay for that.

it all depends on your doctor. my doctor is sonogram crazy. he did one at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 20 weeks, 28 weeks and wants to do another on wednesday at 34 weeks. my insurance only covers one per normal pregnancy though. so you may wanna check. they are about $200 a pop. I didn't realize my insurance wasn't covering them until just a couple weeks ago. told the doc that I didn't want the 34 week one if it wasn't necessary becasue I couldn't afford it and he said he would do it for free because he wanted to check the babies growth. fine by me!
