I'm 35 nearing the 36th week in days. Had my doctor appointment today where I was checked. I do understand that it depends on the practice of the doctor, but is it typical for them to check for dialation or effacement every week?

my dr says that his office does not ever check until atleast 39 weeks unless you have a problem of some sort x.x

I thought they started checking at 36 weeks and when i went to my doctor I was suprised to find out that many offices are getting away from doing this, I thought it was because I am having a planned c-section and then she told me, she doesnt even check women who are not having a planned c-section. She said she only checks if you are having contractions as its not an accurate way to tell if you are getting close or not. Since you said your doctor checked this week they are probably still an office that does it every week until delivery. Not that I was looking forward to the actual internal but I would still like to know the progress even if it doesnt matter....

The office I went to also did internals every week starting at 36 wks.At first I was not looking forward to this but around 38,39 wks I went into my appts hoping that they would tell me that I was making some kind of progress b/c I was so tired of being pregnant.
