Trouble Sleeping

For the past week I have had so much trouble just trying to go to sleep. I am literally wide awake all night. I get up in the middle of the night and just walk around the bedroom because everytime I move I am scared to wake my husband. He gets up at 6:30. It just seems like when the sun starts to come up is when I get tired. But I have a 4yr old and I have to keep him busy during the day otherwise he won't sleep at night. I am 33weeks this Friday. I never had this problem when I was pregnant with my first child. Is anyone else having these problems at all? is there any advise anyone can give me to help me fall asleep? Please help. I hate thinking I have huge bags under my eyes.

Hi Maria, I have started having trouble sleeping and my doctor said I could take Tylenol PM to help go to sleep. My skin has started to itch really bad and my doctor told me to take Benadryl which also helps me sleep. Hope that helps a little. :)

Same here. Am 38 weeks. I only sleep an hour at a time (my hips hurt and I pee all the time), so I sleep like 2-3 hours a night...then, I am a zombi in the day. My doctor said it's OK to take Benadryl once in a while, so when I have not slept for like two nights in a row, I take one and it makes me drowsy...and with a good -7 hours of sleep, I am myself again!

Maria - I'm 32 weeks and I often wake up about 3:00 and am just not tired at all. Its like my body just says that its time to get up! So, I go in the other room and read for at least an hour, and then go back to bed. Its not every night, but it is often. My doctor also recommended Tylenol PM if I wanted to take something, but I have opted not to yet.

Hi Maria, you are not alone! I was having troubles with sleep for a number of weeks and then last week I slept better than I had in months. I was ecstatic! But, that is over. The last few nights I don't think I have slept more than 20 minutes at a time. I seem to be nausoues again (grrr) and I can't stay in one location for too long or I feel so yucky. My husband left the bed the other night because he couldn't stand me flipping from side to side all the time. Apparently, I have also started moaning and talking in my sleep. I have never done it before. My husband actually had to shake me awake the other night as I just kept repeating "Good Day, Good Day, Good Day". I have no idea what I was dreaming about! My hips also get uncomfortable if I stay in one position for too long. Yeah, I am really ready to have a night where I sleep for two plus hours at a time. I don't mind getting up to pee, it is the tossing and turning and not being comfortable that drives me batty.

Hi girls, I with you on this one. I am 30 weeks and can't sleep at all. I dont' necessarily have troulbe falling asleep at first, but once I get one to go to the bathroom, I have a horrible time falling back asleep. Once I fall asleep, its time to get up to use the bathroom again. ITs horrible. I bet I sleep about 4 hours a night. I alway get into my good sleep about 5:00 am, and I have to get up at 6:30 for work, so that stinks! Its just gotten worse, so I plan to ask my doctor at my next appointment.
