hello when you get your membrans stripped the doctor puts his hands inside of you v____a and go up and opens his hand up the closes it and open again.. bare with me it sounds awful.. but i promise it feels even worse. with my first i about cryed when my doctor did it.. but it helps lador along.. hope this helps

I was told that it is when the ob separates your cervix from your amniotic sac. My midwife did it to me and it was a little uncomfortable, but didn't cause me any pain. They do it to help get labor started or help labor along.

Yes stripping the membranes is exactly what sparkles said. Stretching your cervix is more what heather said. I have had both done. The stretching was far more painful then the stripping
