When does you doc remove your cerclage?.

I had a cerclage with my last pregnancy and they removed it when I was 37 weeks.

this sounds stupid, but what is cerclage? sorry, i am so new to all of this

A cerclage is a st_tch used the hold the cervix closed. It is placed when a woman is determined to have a weak or incompetent cervix. The only reason that I know is because I had one placed last Tuesday after a routine sonogram that previous Friday showed that my cervix had gone from 4cm to 1.5cm. Mind you, I was only 23 weeks at the time. Goldfish, I'm glad you asked the question because I was curious as to when mine would be taken out. My doctors are still monitoring me for signs of preterm labor. So I have no idea when mine will be removed.

One more question to add...does the removal of the cerclage hurt? I know I have a ways to go but just wondering...

i guess not. your ob takes it out in her clinic thats what i have heard

Mine didn't hurt a bit and it was very simple, right there in the docs office.
