When will i turn 9 months?

kimberly - July 5th, 2007 4:59 PM

You are 9 months when you hit 36 weeks. Your 9th month is 4 weeks long, just like all the other months are.

jessicaspatherapist - July 5th, 2007 5:00 PM

if you go by lunar months then you're 9 months when you are 36 weeks....if you go buy calendar months then you are 9 months when it has been 9 months since your last menstrual period.

Nerdy_Girl_10242006 - July 5th, 2007 5:46 PM

I'm not going through the hassle of explaining to people that I am 9 months for 4 weeks, so I go by my due date...my due date being 9 months...saves the hassel of people trying to understand.

searfoss6 - July 5th, 2007 7:42 PM

I always thought you turned 9 months on your due date. If you turn 9 months when you are 36 weeks then wouldn't you be pregnant for 10 months?

denimbutterfly - July 5th, 2007 7:53 PM

You are 9 months when you are 36 weeks. You are in the ninth month until delivery. If that confuses you think of a 2 month old baby. He/she is 2 months old for an entire month, not just a day. From the beginning of the month until the end. make sense?

denimbutterfly - July 5th, 2007 7:57 PM

searfoss6- you are pregnant for a FULL 9 months not 8 months and a day.

moescrilla - July 5th, 2007 7:58 PM

you are not nine months until you are 40 weeks. Your ninth month starts at 36 weeks, when you are 8 months complete. Think of it this way: when your baby is born, say on june the 16th, he wont be one month until august 16th. he will have completed one whole month, then he's "one month"

I go by this: baby2see.com/pregnancylength.html

moescrilla - July 5th, 2007 8:08 PM

thats the best way to explain it sophie!

Nerdy_Girl_10242006 - July 6th, 2007 10:51 AM

Yeah, they all said it good...but in reality you are pregnant 10 months...but most don't know that. So for me, I don't go through the hassel of explaining it to people (my SIL for one got pissed off at me because she told everyone I was trying to make it sound like I was further along then her, so when I showed her a few different books and she read them she felt dumb for getting mad, but she now tells everyone I think I'm a know it all ((which is why she calls me when something is wrong and asks me what she should do and everything))) So for me I stick to 9 months being my due date.

momma3tobe - July 6th, 2007 11:30 AM

You BEGIN the 9th month at 36 weeks.

JessC531 - July 6th, 2007 8:32 PM

This is why I don't even directly answer the question when asked how far along I am. I just say I'm almost there, or that I'm due on the 30th. I considered myself 9 months starting at 36 weeks, but that makes pregnancy 10 months, and people don't get that.

moescrilla - July 6th, 2007 10:01 PM

you're not really pregnant for 10 months though. you're pregnant for 10 "lunar" months or 9 calender months. my lmp was nov. 30th. My edd is Sep. 6th. Thats 9 months, one week. Since I technically wasnt pregnant until a couple weeks AFTER I started my last period you are pregnant for about 9 calender months.
