hey everyone i was wondering if at 38 or 39 weeks if you are having severe swelling, a little high blood pressure, and not dialated at all , if the doc will induce ?? what do you think ? i went naturally with my son at 39 weeks , but im afraid i am going to go late with this one because i am not dialating.....

I once delivered at 37 weeks. If you or the baby could suffer, then I'm sure your doctor will induce.

Most doctors will induce if they see that the baby is in danger in any way. If your blood pressure is high enough and you are swelling.......it could be the start of pre-eclamsia (sp?). In that case a doctor would induce you. When is your next doc appointment?

I am wonderinf the same thing! I think I may have some start to Toxemia....my feet and ankles and legs are so swollen (not tight either, the nurse here at work says if it was normal pregnancy swelling then it would feel tight) she also said my face looks a little swollen (for the past 2-3 days) My fingers are swollen too. Not only that but they are Constantly numb and tingly! Sometimes they get so bad I cant hold anything! I go back to the Dr. tomorrow. I'm going to have the nurse here at work check my BP tonight sometime.

Wondering....sorry Typo! Thats cause my fingers are too fat to hit the right keys! lol

My last appointment at 36 wk 6 d, I was 2 centimeters, 30% effaced. I have had no problems. Due date is May 30th. Doctor said if I don't have the baby before and as long as I keep progressing as I have for the last two weeks, she will induce me the week of the 22nd.

I just had the nurse here at work take my BP. It was 147 over 94. My pulse was 70. She said that was high compared to last week when we took it. I think it was 123 over 70....I also think I have gained about 10 lbs since my last visit 2 weeks ago. That is not normal for me. My last visit I actually lost a lb and the visit before that I had gained 6.

I have had a headache now for 2 days.....I thought it was just something small but now that I think about it, it hasnt gone away yet! It gets worse and then feels ok then gets worse again!

AML...I have been having headaches for the past couple of days too! I don't have any high BP (but I did early on) and the swelling is getting worse. Nothing to make me think pre-eclampsia but it IS noticeable. Check with your Doc to see what he/she thinks. I feel like we are practically LIVING with them anyway since we see them so often now!

I think I will most likely be induced in the next week or two as well for the same reasons. Some swelling and Higher BP, etc. I am 34 weeks along, (35 this saturday). I've been on bedrest for pre-term labor since early April. I go back to the doctor on Friday... will let you know what happens.

I am in the same boat as you I am at 38 weeks and my baby is measuring almost 9 lbs already but they said they dont want to induce until I am dilating.

I am in the same boat as you I am at 38 weeks and my baby is measuring almost 9 lbs already but they said they dont want to induce until I am dilating. also my BP was a little elevated but unless they think it's a health risk they wont induce unless you are dilated

Tillie - May 18

I'm 36 weeks today and just found out I'm 2 centimeters dilated and 75% effaced. I might be induced tomorrow or Monday for very low anmiotic fluid, so I suppose this is good. Anyone know any tricks for speeding up dilation or encouraging baby to drop?

try walking tillie!!
