Worried About Fetal Movement After Scare

Ok, here is my current situation. I will be 36 weeks Wednesday. My husband and I were out Saturday night with some friends...kind of a last chance at a night out before baby comes. Well, we were sitting at the bar (out to sing karaoke) and some drunk came up behind me and grabbed me. My husband immediately got the guy to back off, but it scared me so bad at the time, that my BH got pretty strong...my stomach was basically tight all night, and baby was MAD, kicking and moving much harder than normal. Since I woke up yesterday morning, there has been much LESS fetal movement. I'm still feeling her move a little now and then, but the movements are not as freqent and don't feel as strong as they did before (however, they also all feel lower). However, in my last kick count last night I did feel 10 movements, and as soon as I ate this morning she started moving. Do you think I should call my doctor this morning, or is this probably just her having dropped a little lower and so her movements have changed? I know that at this stage in pregnancy they are getting crowded in there. Oh, also, my BH have stayed stronger since saturday night, and I've started having some lower back pain (still no consistent pattern to the contractions, though). Any thoughts are appreciated. This is my first pregnancy, so of course I worry very easily. (She just started moving right now...it just feels so much softer than normal...)

Allie, I wouldn't spend another minute worrying. I would call my dr. and tell them that you are probably just freaking out over nothing, but it would make you feel so much better if they would just listen to her and make sure she's ok. Everything is probably fine, but there's no need to cause yourself undue stress! That's what your dr. is there for, to ease your mind. As a matter of fact, mine told me not to spend a second stressing about anything, to call no matter how dumb or trivial I thought it was. Besides, better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks Cyndi. I just left a message at the dr's office, and am waiting for him or his nurse to call me back. I'm really hoping that they'll have me come in just to rea__sure me. I'm not as worried as I would be if there was no movement, but it's just so little that I'm afraid something is wrong :(

I understand completely! I'm 31 weeks, and I still worry, and nothing's even happened to me! If she's not moved much, I'm poking her and trying to get her to move. So I totally understand! Let me know what the dr. says. Good luck!

Just to update, she got really active again later this afternoon, so I am no longer worried. It took the dr's office all day to call me back, and when they did they said if there was NO movement to go to labor and delivery; since that was never an issue I guess I should have worried less, but it makes me nervous now that they took so long to call me back...

if anything Allie, I'd say that the scare took a little energy out of your girl...like an adrenaline rush and maybe that's why she didn't move so much, a little tired. I wouldn't worry about it at all though. And for your doctor to take a while to call you back? Come on! We all know how doctor offices unfortunately work! They take FOREVER for EVERYTHING! ;) Don't worry...and hopefully your hubby taught that guy a little lesson!! Smile, relax, and get ready for girly to be there!
