23 Month Old Climbing Gate

My dd has learned to climb the gate to get out of her bedroom. She sleeps in a big girl bed so that cant keep her in. We tried putting a second gate up above it and she was trying to climb all the way up. Any ideas on keeping her in apart from buying a different gate?

Why use the gate? Is she getting up in the middle of the night? Are there stairs you are afraid she will fall down? My daughter is two and in a big girl bed. She comes in to our room in the morning and if she needs us in the night. Will your daughter just roam the house if she isn't contained? Just curious as to why you need the gate?

Yeah she still gets up in the middle of the night. And we just put her in bed to go to sleep at night and some nights she wont stay in bed. Her room is right at the top of the stairs.

Can you just put the gate at the top of the stairs and put her back to bed when she gets up? There is a Supper Nanny method that worked wonders for us. First time up you tell her, "it's time for bed honey". The second time you tell her, "time for bed". Any subsequent times and you say nothing, just put her back to bed. It took our daughter three days to get the message and now she goes to bed and stays there until morning, unless she has a poopy diaper in the night, then she will wake us up to change her. Maybe this would work for you. I can understand why she is climbing the gate, who wants to be penned in. But, there is also the safety issue and as a mother I completely understand that. Just give the method four days and see what happens. Hopefully then you can move the gate and she won't be climbing it to get to you. I hope this helps.
