Belly Button Outie

Question - November 9

My 17 month old has an outie, sometimes it's sticks out like a little smokie. Has this happen to anyone else? I get remakes from friends, as they laugh. Her 18 month ap is in Dec, but just wanted to see if there are any other Belly B's having this issue.

It is probably just a result of how the belly b___ton healed. If it really bothers you, mabe there is a way they can 'fix' it that isn't invasive. Regardless, you really should just tell your friends to keep their remarks to themselves, that's your baby they are snickering about!

my lo had an umbilical hernia, which looks like she has an outie. It sticks out more when she cries or gets upset, but its not so bad. My doctor said it should clear up on its own, but if it doesnt there is some kind of surgery that can be done. Its just the way her umbilical stump healed. It doenst bother her at all, so I dont plan on doing anything unless its medically necessary. I would tell your friends to mind thier own business, there is nothing wrong with an outie at all.

My lo has an umbilical hernia too. Makes her look like she has an outie. It doesn't stick out nearly as much as it did when she was little, she's 18 mos now. I wouldn't worry about it right now, but maybe ask the ped next time you are there. Mine said that they would probably st_tch it closed if it didn't heal by the time she was 2.
