My son is 2 years old and he's pretty smart for his age. He will be 3 in September and I am planning on letting him go to school. Do you all think 3 is a good age for a child to attend pre-school? No public schooling either, I rather for my baby to attend private schooling.

Your child has to be 3 by a certian date in september to be eligible for preschool. If he meets the age requirement then I would say yes, go for it. I too believe that private schooling is better. My daughter doesn't turn 3 until february, so she will be about three and a half before they will take her.

He'll be 3 on September 19, I hope they take him cause I know he'll do well. They don't have to worry about teaching him his name, alphabets, numbers 1-10 or certain colors cause he knows all that already. My only thing with him would be the fact that he is very picky when it comes down to eating and he likes to have milk more than twice a day.

Yeah, my daughter knows all her colors, can count to 14 on her own and knows the alphabet and can tell you what any letter is. She knows the basic shapes as well as octagon, and trapezoid and speaks in full sentences. My problem is that most of the pre school programs I have researched online have these as the basis of the cirriculum. I would think that since she has these mastered that she would need something more. She needs to learn how to write the alphabet, and letters and to actulally draw the shapes. I don't want to waste her time in a program that is just review. We spend a lot of time with her teaching her all that we can think of, we also read to her all the time. Also, I have been doing some research and have found that some of the private pre school programs will take the kids before age 3. If you do a search online you can look the information up for yourself for any given school. I actually found one in my area that takes toddlers as young as 15 months with semi structured activities for that age group. Good luck finding what he needs. For kids under 4 it is hard to find a program for toddlers who are a bit advanced. I definitely don't want to pay tuition for a cla__s that isn't challenging enough.

Thanks for that bit of info! I definitely think my son is a little more advanced that most kids his age. He can write the first 2 letters of his name on his own and loves to be read to. I try to have him doing something educated during the day and watch educated children programs. I will definitely look into different programs while I am online to see if I can find anything that fits my son's criteria.

It's funny, we mothers like to think that OUR kids are geniuses.LOL.

lol...I think it's funny also. But is is very good when they can do things earlier than you'd expect them to.
