Sleep Question For Toddler Moms

My dd is nearly 8 months old...She takes two 1-2 hour naps and sleeps 12-13 hours at night....so she is getting lots of sleep. She goes to bed around 6:15pm. I am just wondering if someone else had a baby who went to bed early, who eventually could stay up a little later as a toddler (I'm talking maybe to 7-7:30pm)...just curious as we always have to be home by 5:30pm to start our bedtime routine...I know eventually she may only take 1 nap when she's a toddler, I'm just hoping it won't cause her to need to go to bed even earlier, or else I'll have to leave work by 3pm, lol!!!..Just curious how Toddler's sleeping patterns are???

Hmmm.... I think her sleeping patterns will change alot as the months go by. My dd's did. My dd is 19 months and takes a one nap a day from around 11:30 to 1:30 and is in bed at the latest 8:30. Of course we get up at 6:30 to get ready to leave during the week. I think eventually your dd will start taking one nap in the middle of the day and when you start to go to just one nap at first she will be so tired you will be putting her to bed at around 7pm. Eventually she will start staying up a little later like 7:30-8. That probably wont happen until around 12 months or later. Good luck, let me know how it goes.

Thanks! I was just wondering what I'm in for over the next few months...crazy to think only 4 more months til she's one. Time is flying.

My ds is 17 months old and his schedule sounds similar to jessb's dd. He wakes up by himself at 6:15 a.m. or so, takes a 1-2 hour nap anytime between 11 and 1 or so, and then is in bed by 8:30. He's been on this schedule since about 15 months old.....

My son used to wake up at 6-6:30 every morning when he was under 12 months. He took two 2-3 hour naps a day. And he went to bed between 8 and 9oclock. Now he's 15 months. He sleeps from 8pm-7:30am and he has a 2-3 hour nap sometime between 11:30am and 2pm. He has only one nap a day now, but he's doing just fine, and no crankiness.

my dd is 16 months old and she has been on one nap a day for at least 6 months now. we usually wake her up around 7:30 or 8 during the week and on the weekend she will sleep until between 8:30 and 9:30, she also goes to bed at 8:30 and has a nap between 1 and 3.

Hi, My son Hunter went to bed at 6 or 630 when he was your dd age. His is 18 months and now goes down between 7 and 730, so eventually they stay up a little later. He takes 1 nap a day.

hmmm..maybe my dd sleeps TOO much. She goes to bed at 6:30, sometimes 7pm and sleeps till 8am. She takes a 2-2.5 hr nap around 11am and she's nearing 15 months. I have to say, it's really nice that she sleeps so good at night but it wasn't always that way. Until around 12-13 months she was napping around 10-11:30 and from 2-3:30 or so and going to bed around 6:30 still. I can't say that she ever went to bed earlier than 6pm except for a very rare occasion.

Hi DB. I think this is very common. My son Ethan did the same thing. He wanted to go down as early as 5:30pm or 6pm and would sleep 12hrs. He also took a nap for 2.5hrs. As they get older it will be a later. At 22months, he goes down at 9pm to 800am and still takes a 2-2 1/2 nap.

my dd is 14 months and sleeps from 8-8:30 to 7-7:30 with one nap at around 1:30 until about 4. She was taking 2 naps a day until about 12 months or so, but seems just fine with one. She is pretty tired though by 1:30, so she is out like a light. Sometimes I feel like she could still take a morning nap, but she cries if I try so I dont bother.
