Does Anyone Know If My Hcg Is High For 5 Weeks

I am 5 weeks preg and my hcg levels were 54,679 on Monday. Does this seem high? I have heard that higher hcg levels could mean twins. Has anyone had these numbers at 5 weeks and had twins?

The levels of Beta HCg do not correlate with the number of fetuses you are carrying. Usually, HCG values double every 48 hours during early pregnancy. The range is quite large. At 1-2 weeks from your last period the normal range of pregnancy values is 50-500. At 2-3 weeks the range is 100-5000. At 3-4 weeks it is 500-10,000. At 4-5 weeks it is 1000-50,000. At 5-6 weeks it is 10,000 - 100,000. At 6-8 weeks it is 15000 - 200,000. So you see that your values are within normal limits. When you get your sonogram you will know whether you have one baby or more, but not based on the HCG values. I am a RN in an OB/GYN practice. Good Luck.
