What can I expect from my 2nd dr. appt? I'll be 13 weeks pregnant then. Can I find out if they're identical or fraternal? How about their s_x? Thanks for your help...

I was told we can't really find out if they fraternal or identical until they are born. At our 2nd appt, we had another transv____al u/s to make sure they were growing appropriately and both were still there. I was told that they might be able to tell the genders as early as 16 weeks. We have our u/s appt. in 2 weeks and we will be almost 19 weeks. Every Dr. is different though. Good luck!

If your babies are in 2 different sacs then they are fraternal. That you would find out at an ultrasound. Even if your twins are fraternial they can look identical. If they are sharing the same sack though then they are identical and will both be the same s_x. I am sure at your appointment they are going to use the doppler to hear the babies heart beats and they might measure you but it is probably going to be a really easy appointment.

Actually, identical twins can be in separate sacs. It depends on when the egg splits.
