Well, all i can say is that i appreciate your honesty Tora. And drugs are a problem, whether you do it once, or a thousand times. I have never tried any drugs, because of my upbringing. My mother is a full blown drug addict. I'm 33 years old, and pregnant with my 4th baby. During my first pregnancy, they found 2 uteruses. I'm unable to have my babies naturally. My second pregnancy, i was curious and asked why i had two uteruses. My doctor says it could be drugs, or booze, or just something that happened. He told me to ask my mother if she did drugs, or booze. I asked my mother, and i was sorry i did. She told me she did both, because she was trying to miscarry me. I resent my mother for that. I know tora that you are concerned about the health of your baby and you are concerned, or you wouldn't be on here. Hope all is well, and you and your baby are healthy. Best wishes.

Whether SOME PEOPLE want to admit it or not, drug use is much more prevalent than they realize. This is an important discussion and I really appreciate the candid responses about this subject (which, by the way, is NOT about the legality of drugs nor the effect on CONTINUED drug use during pregnancy). And also, answers like ur a dumbass' post on feb 15, are just taken from anti-drug sites, which is trying to deter you from taking drugs during pregnancy, don't help either. I would think most women don't continue their occasional recreational drug use during pregnancy, otherwise, they wouldn't be on this site out of concern for their child. And just because you don't see or hear about these REAL LIFE issues, doesn't mean they doesn't exist. Anyway, thanks to all of you who have shared your experiences.

I was smoking crack cocaine and found out i was pregnant.since then i have stopped is there a possibility i have harmed my unborn baby

Kim Held - September 17th, 2005 8:26 PM

I used cocaine in the early stages of my pregnancy (4-6 wks). I alsl didnt know i was pregnant until i ended up having a drug related seizure, and everything seemed ok until i went for an ultrasound at 21 wks (5 months) and there was no heart beat. Later after giving birth, they did an autopsy on him and i found out he passed cause of cocaine usage and servere toximia which is lack of oxygen to the brain during the seizure. Sometimes the babies are ok and other times its not. I live with the guilt everyday that i killed my baby. I will never ever touch a single drug again i owe it to lil anthony not to. good luck with you I will Pray for you and your baby> :)

Its truly funny how this question got so screwed up from beggining to end. Tora said She Used hense the Used part, cocaine before she found out. She is not doing it now so give it up. I don't do drugs and I don't believe in doing them but giving someone crap for something they used not are useing is ridicoulous. Your baby is fine Tora as long as you saying used is actually what you meant. Take care For the people out that that should complety read the whole topic before you judge becauseyou yourself are not perfect in any way as are we.

i think you are all stupid for taking drugs you all need help from a doctor not from people off a website i hope that tora your baby is ok!!! but all you stupid women that are saying you all used drugs when you were pregnant how stupid are you!!!! you could of seriously hurt your children if you choose to have any more i would advise you not to do it again!!!!!

mama-bean - September 24th, 2005 9:46 PM

tora, please talk to your doc. Your risks can be minimized.... to all the other moms on this board who are still using while pregnant, or were using when you were pregnant, or are still using while raising your children.... you are all in serious denile. You may THINK you are raising your children well, but compared to a similar person who is NOT using, you are doing a poor job. What child can grow up normally having a parent that can't grow up, be responsable, and behave normally? You may THINK your're doing ok ( my friends cousins aunt had a drug baby and it is just fine...) but really, you aren't. Get help. For your children.

what a dumb ? do you honestly think it wouldnt.

trying to help - September 25th, 2005 1:44 AM

Hey kiddo, as long as you are clean now and the doc clears you, everything should be ok. Just remember that it's done and over with. You can't take it back. Worrying about it will not help you or your baby. I do agree that you should steer clear of all things and people that are drug-related from here on out, though. Illegal drugs cause huge problems for all humans, babies especially. As for the gal asking about her friend who told her to wean herself off meth or whatever it was, I say, that is garbage. Get off it, and get off now!!!! And to miss anti-religion, let people use what works for them, and if it HAS worked for them, let them share their knowlege. Who does it hurt? Best wishes for all who are struggling.

Sue.RN - September 25th, 2005 8:09 AM

YES!!! There is no safe amount of cocaine that can be used during pregnancy, no matter how early it was detected. If you plan on using illegal recreational drugs, use contraceptives!!! This is why child protective services was founded, for people who cannot be responsible

jodi - September 26th, 2005 5:35 PM

I hope not, but you are sick to use cocane anyway

im 26 weeks and still doing drugs doing meth not all the time but what i want to know what is the worse that could happen to the baby and when i have this baby will the docters know that i was using if i stop know

Rae - October 19th, 2005 9:33 PM

I don't know the answer to this question....but don't get down on yourself if you didn't know you were pregnant when you used. At that time if is only your own life you are affecting. If someone is using and know they are pregnant then they need to get help before bringing an innocent life into the world.
