A Little Complicated

Took morning after pill in March, had a period 8th April. Had s_x 15th April with my ex. But a week later (22nd) with my new boyfriend, I took the morning after pill again after. Now I am pregnant but am not sure who the father is as I am not sure of effectiveness of morning after pill when taken more than once. I am aware that I need to think of more sensible methods of contraception. Also worried that if I was already pregnant when I took morning after pill, is this damaging to my child? When I go to my scan next week will they be able to tell me exactly how far along I am?

The morning after pill won't damage your child...so don't worry about that. So did you not have a period May 6th? Cause if you have a 28 day cycle you should have had one then.

Oh duh nevermind I got confused...pregnancy has my brain lol. Okay yeah at your next scan they will be estimate how far along you are. I don't know how accurate it will be though since the 15th and 22nd are so close together. sorry about that had a duh moment. Congratulations on your pregnancy. :) Well after looking at the calendar, if you have a 28 day cycle, you should have ovulated on the 22nd exactly...so it very well could be your new boyfriends baby.

No, I have missed my period. Went for a pregnancy test on Friday after feeling symptoms and the test showed positive almost immediately. My first scan is on Saturday and I am just wondering if they can tell accurately enough when exactly it was conceived, so I know who the father is!

Oh right, thanks for your help. Let's hope they can tell me. I don't wana tell either of them until I know for sure myself! Take care of yourself! xxx

It really depends on when you ovulated. Either could be the possible father. The only way to find out for sure is to take a paternity test after the baby is born. I don't think you should worry about the morning after pill affecting your child, but you may want to let your new bf know that there is a possibility that he may not be the father. It is only fair to him.

Do you follow your cycle normally to know how many days it is? And yeah I agree with Tammy getting a paternity test will be best. But your chances of it being your new bf's baby are good if you have a 28 day cycle. Good luck! :)

sperm can live in you for quite a few days, so it is a possibility that it could be either one. Yes, more sensible methods of contraception would be good, but it looks like its a little too late for that right? So just go with it, enjoy being pregnant, don't stress about it, it's not good for the baby. Just make sure you do the right thing after the baby is born. It's only fair to him, or her :) yes, they will be able to tell you exactly how far along you are when you go in for your scan, but that still won't tell you who the father is.

The longest sperm can live is 7 days. So making the 22nd the 7th day. But the average is 5. So of course there is a possibilty of it being the ex's. but not as high...IF you ovulated on the 22nd.

Ultrasounds can give you an ESTIMATED due date, plus or minus 2 weeks. So, it looks like your baby has a paternaty test in its future.
