Any One Else Getting Migranes

Hi, just wondering if any of you have been getting migranes during your pregnancy. I have had 4 in the last two weeks and they render me useless for 2 days at a time. I used to get one about every 6 months before I was pregnant, but this is driving me nuts! Does anyone know why this is happening, is it the hormones? If so will they ease up after the 1st trimester when the hormones calm down?

Hey Nadine. How far along are you? I am almost 22 weeks and I have also suffered from migraines, also pre-pregnancy was about every 5 or 6 months between. I actually was able to determine that these pregnancy related ones were very much connected to stress and they were the worst between weeks 8 and 18. I'm still having frequent headaches but they aren't migranine status thank God! I found that Tylenol alone doesn't always help and I read on another site to try taking the Tylenol with a can of coke, it definitley works for me on the more stubborn headaches. I would say I'm down to taking Tylenol about once or twice a week now, I was taking it almost everyday for a couple of weeks. Don't worry, it should get better soon depending on how far along you are...

Hi Linda, Nice to know I'm not the only one! I am about 10 weeks along but was 7 or 8 weeks when they started. I was surprised to get them so often as this is my fourth pregnancy and I didn't get them with any of my others. But then again I wasn't as sick, bloated or as tired with my others either!!! Knock on wood I haven't had one in the last week and think that cutting down on the coffee may have helped. Is this your first pregnancy? If not did you get them with any of your other pregnancies? Glad to hear that they have eased up for you and hope to chat again soon.

when i was pregnant with my son, i got migraines pretty bad towards the end of my pregnancy. I was to the point of tears a couple of times b/c it was so bad.

Hi Kvilendrer, did the doctor say why you were getting them so late in your pregnancy? Mine are pretty bad too. I can't function at all when I get one and have no choice but to go to bed. It's funny b/c I didn't get them with my last 3 pregnancies but I guess your body reacts differently each time.

nadine, all i remember is that the doctor told me it was normal. I had to lay down on the couch with a cold rag on my head...and wait for it to go away. I really hope that yours go away because i know how miserable they can be.

Thanks Kvilendrer. So far they seem to have eased off, but I am coming up to a stressful time ( the bank is going to take my house!) So I am trying to stay calm and see things in a positve light (it's a new start for my family, we can rent a bigger house etc) If I let things get to me I will be sure to get more migranes and have a nervous breakdown! Neither of which are good for me or the baby.

you're right...stress plays a major part in migraines. I really hope that everything gets better. Try not to get too stressed out over the house thing....i know it sounds stupid to say that b/c it's a big thing...but I really hope things get better. Good luck :)

Great to hear from you again Kvilendrer. I'm a bit up and down about the house thing at the moment, I guess the hormones don't help! But trying to remain positive. I go to talk to the bank tommorow so I guess I'll have to see what they say and just take things from there. We just seem to be having a run of bad luck lately, I hope that eases off soon too!!!!!

I hope so too. Good luck on that...and good luck on the pregnancy!!

Kvilenderer Thank you so much for your best wishes, they seemed to have worked. I have just found out that we are able to save the house and I am sooooo relieved. thankyou again

Sorry I knid of fell off there Nadine. Glad to hear you could keep your house. I would say the migraines could definitley have been coming from your stress. I know mine were. I still get headaches that follow the day after a stressful event (like today) but now at 23 weeks they are just headaches, no migraines thank God! I hope the same for you!

Good to hear from you again Linda. The migranes seemed to have eased off thak God, I only get mild headaches now which I much prefer. It got to the stage where I was too scared to go anywhere in case I got one and couldn't drive home. What was your stressful event? I hope everything is o.k!! Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl? hope to hear from you soon.
