How Painful Is It Really

I am pregnant with my third child, due 2 Feb. I have a 15 yr old and a 2 yr old. I am SO done. I asked my doctor about tubal ligation and she said the only way they can do it after I have the baby is if there is space available. In other words if someone has an emergency then my minor surgery will get pushed to the side. I am afraid of having this done. I was told that they can do it like a day or so after the baby is born. I also heard that it was painful. I'm thinking that if I'm not able to get this done before I'm discharged, I won't ever do it. How painful is this really? And if anyone had this done right after giving birth, how long after? And also how long and where exactly was the soreness?

My mom had it done after my youngest brother was born. She had it by laparascopy (three tiny holes on each side)... not sure if that differs now. Anyway, she had pain the first day, but said after that it wasn't bad... nothing Tylenol couldn't help. I had mine tied, but it was during my third child's birth (my 3rd c-section), so the tubal recovery was lumped together with the c-section recovery. I didn't notice an extra pain than with my other c-sections, but, then again, it was kind of a whole ball of pain there lol.

... oh and she said that her pain that day was like ovulating pain, but worse (same spot)...

If they don't get to you, have you considered asking your partner/husband to get a vasectomy??
