I just found out I'm pregnant. I'm 4 1/2 wks along. Before I found out I made a dr.s appt. for a physical and nov.22nd is the soonest i could get in. Is that too long to wait to get checked out now that I know I'm pregnant? I'm experiencing some cramping in my lower pelvis that is not exactly painful but uncomfortable like af cramps. Is this normal? This is my first baby and i'm very scared of m/c. dh just decided to ttc last month so it happened very quickly off bc. Any advice would be sooo appreciated.

Hey Ashley, its me! To answer your question, when I called my doctor's office Friday to make an appointment, I asked them what was the earliest time I could come in, and they said for newly pregnant women they don't usually see them until they are between 6-8 weeks. My appointment isn't until Dec.5...so I'll be more like 8 weeks by then. So don't worry. About the cramping...I FEEL YA!! It has actually gotten better, but they're still off and on. I've been drinking LOTS of water, a suggestion from a friend of mine, and it seems to have helped, especially when I was sleeping last night because thats when most of them have been occurring, waking me up! I only woke up once last night. When I asked my Nurse Practioner at my doctor's office, she's a friend of the family, she said it was normal to cramp in early pregnancy, just watch for very severe long lasting cramps and substantial bleeding. She even said that some spotting can be normal. So anyway, I hope this eases your mind, because believe me I've been worried to death myself. I'll keep you in my prayers!!

Thanks Nissa, I was beginning to think there was nobody out there. Did you figure out your due date yet? Mine is July 19th. You count back 3 months from the 1st day of your last period and then add 7 days. The first day of my last period was oct 12th so i"m glad i won't be huge huge pregnant in the super hot months of summer. Aug. and Sept. would have been worse. : )

Nissa - November 13

Hey Ashley! How wonderful!! My due date will be July 22. My last period was October 15. This is so weird how similar we are in about everything!!! How are the cramps? Drinking lots of water?

Ashley - November 13

Hey Nissa, The cramps are better today than yesterday. I haven't really been doing the water thing excessively but I think I drink enough and now when I'm dying for a diet coke I just have a small gla__s of milk. I heard that in early pregnancy the baby really sucks your calcium up so be sure to drink some milk. Anyway, my dr. appt. is going to be a consultation because i'm considered a new patient again because its been 5 years since I went. I didn't have health insurance for a long time but I kept up with my yearly paps at the health dept. so hopefully everything will be ok. I'm afraid that when I go she'll refer me to a obgyn and then it'll be another 2 or 3 wks till I get in. I really want to see this baby on screen or just get an ok from the dr. after examining me. Have you checked out that whole chinese calender thing about the gender prediction. If its right it says I'm going to have a boy. I don't have a whole lot of faith in that though. But its kind of fun to mess around with. So do you have any names picked out. For a boy we were thinking Garrett, Caleb or Brayden and for a girl Whitney or Cadence. Dh loves Garrett it sounds kind of old to me what do you think of those names? And do you have any ideas for your little bundle?

Ashley - November 13

Oh, nissa there's a pretty cool website I found. If you put in your 1st day of your last period it will tell exactly how far along you are and there's a daily calender that'll tell you exactly what's going on with you and baby every single day. parenting.ivillage.com ( go to the pregnancy calender part. it's pretty cool) I'm 5 wks. and on thurs. I'll be 6 wks. Just a little farther than I was thinking. Hmmm interesting huh?

Nissa - November 13

Hey again Ashley! About the milk thing, I HATE milk...could I just mix is with chocolate and have chocolate milk instead??? I've looked at the chinese calendar thing too....I would be having a girl if it was correct...and I had one friend who swore by it, but many others have said of course that it doesn't work! But its fun looking at it!! My hubby and I have picked out quite a few names (we did way before I found out I was pg)....we love the name Lauren Claire (my grandmother's name is Laura and his grandmother's name is Clara) and for a boy we like David Luke....my husband's name is David also, but and he hates to think it will be in our child's name! I love the name Seth, but he hates it!! UGH! We have a hard time agreeing on names! He loves the name Luke so, thats what we would call him. I LOVE the name Garrett!! We already have one in the family or we would have snagged that one right up! I love the name Neely Lane for a girl....my sister just named her new baby (of September 9) Tatum Brooke....different but cute! I also loved Holden Alexander for a boy or Benjamin Seth for a boy, but Dave just doesn't want to work with me here! lol....I think after he sees what I'm going to be going through he'll cave! I also love the names Reagan, Kennedy, ( I know, presidents) Carrington - and call her Carrie, Reed for a boy....so many names, only ONE child!! Too many choices! My husband is a freight conductor for the railroad (drives trains) so if we have a boy we're of course going to do a train theme....for a girl...haven't thought that far yet....we're expecting that we'll have a boy for some reason...:o) doesn't matter to me!! Just as long as its a healthy baby!!! My husband works nights and is off on the weekends, so I'm pretty nervous about being here alone at night. Luckily my mom is only about 15 min. away. He left for work about 5 today and I was pretty bummed because I've been with him non stop since my BFP was confirmed on Thursday!!! Anyway, let me know if you've got some other ideas concerning nursery themes, names, etc. I know its early yet, but we need to get our minds off what's going on now so we can get through these next 8 weeks with no complications. Just remember, what is going to happen is going to happen regardless so we just need to be positive and know that its all in God's hands and I have such a good feeling and FAITH that this is going to be such a wonderful experience for us!!! Say your prayers tonight!!! :o)

This is reeaally funny, but guess what? My husbands nam is David Charles. Boy we have alot in common, don't we. Every since I started thinking about having kids (like 18yrs old) I always pictured the nursury blue with white clouds on the walls and maybe a sun somewhere. : ) But now I'm thinking I might just do it to the ceiling. I don't know. I've picked out a ba__sinet that I saw on ebay. You can buy it now for like 38 bucks. It's white and very pretty it has a pink or blue plaid ribbon and bow around it. Then I went to Marshall's yesterday and saw lamps that were white with pink or blue checkered lampshades. Sooo cute. But I really want to know what we're having so I can't really buy stuff like that yet. Plus its a little too early but its soo cute! For a girl I like the name Gracie,or Grace and Hillary, Alexis, Camryn Alysse and Kaylee Rae. But I don't know. I do better with boys names than girls. I wonder if thats a sign that I'm havinga boy. Dave would just be tickled if that were true. For a boy- I like Brady but he says he doesn't want his boys name to end with a y. why I don't know but whatever: ) Also I like Dylan but I have a feeling its going to be Garrett if its a boy. What do you think of Garrett Riley? I too, wanted to have Dave's name in there somewhere but he doesn't and I don't think Garrett David Really sounds that good. What do you think? Lauren Claire is really pretty and I really love Holden Alexander!

Nissa - November 13

Two Daves....this is nuts!!! I love ALL the names you picked out!!! I LOVE Garrett Riley! That's awesome!!! I LOVE Gracie also...but there are so many of the names I like taken already by friends or family members! UGH!!! I love Cathryn Claire also...but we have one of those in the family and she's known as CC. Cute! I shorten up every name somehow or another! My new niece...Tatum...well, I call her Tate-Tate! lol....she'll hate that when she gets older! Anyway, gotta get back to the grind tomorrow after a long weekend....I'll touch base with you tomorrow! Have a good night!! :o) I love that we're becoming friends!!

Ashley - November 13

Me too nissa, its very cool!!! Have a good night and talk to you tomorrow.

Nissa - November 14

My name is actually Anissa but everyone calls me Nissa or Nis for short. Good Morning! I feel ok this morning, just tired and short of breath a little. Last night I tried to go to bed by 9:30 but couldn't sleep. Maybe it was because of the nap I took yesterday afternoon....but I started cramping and it woke me up...dh got home early last night...around 11:30, I was up....I could NOT get comfortable with the cramps I was having. I propped myself up and then my legs as well and watched TV for a bit...my dh, he's so precious, got up and fixed me a plate of cheese and crackers....i was wanting that for some reason...bless him...he was so tired and I had him running all over the place for me....anyway, i finally fell asleep at 12:30...and didn't wake up again until my alarm went off at 6am. So how are you feeling today?? I'll touch base with you during my planning time today! Have a great day!!

Ashley - November 14

Hey nis, i"m feeling ok today. I've got some cramping again today but its ok. dh is still sleeping, i' would think he was the pregnant one. He works afternoons so when he does get home he has to wind down and doesn't go to sleep till about 2 or 3. I'm starting to feel a little sick to my stomach. I had some oj this morning and now don't feel so good. I hope the morning sickness isn't starting. I was hoping I could bypa__s that. : ) So I think we decided on the boy name...Garrett Benjamin and our last name starts with a B. I think it has a good ring to it. And for a girl Camryn Rae or Whitney Alysse, (like Elise) or Grace Whitney. What do ya think?

Nissa - November 14

Still feeling sick to your stomach?? I had a hard time sleeping last night due to cramps, but I have really felt any today - and I was worried about that being back at work and all today. I drank some oj also this morning and kind of shrugged my nose up to it. Not as refreshing as it use to be! Other than that I feel pretty good....I think I'm getting nervous because I am just waiting for morning sickness to come along!!! I could make myself sick thinking about it..so I try not to! lol...I love ALL the names you picked out!!! LOVE GARRETT BENJAMIN!! The girls' names are great...I'm sure you'll have a hard time choosing...same here!! I don't have much of an appet_te...had yogurt this morning and then have had cheese and crackers off and on....and drinking LOTS of water....

Nissa - November 14

Now the cramping has started...after not having any so far all day! UGH!! When does it go away? Its so annoying!!!

AShley - November 14

Hi there, I'm feeling ok. I have very little cramping. I have to work tonight and I really wish I didn't. I'm a waitress for right now until I'm farther in school. I'm starting to hate it. Especially now that I know I'm pregnant. Its sounds horrible but I dont' want to be running around waiting on other people hand and foot, I just want to take care of myself for right now. Itsounds horrible I know but I've been trying for the last 2 months to try to find some kind of medical office job, something to give me experience in the field but nothing so far. Anyway, I never really ended up getting sick this morning- kind of a wave of nausea swept over me a couple of times but it went away. Bye, I"ll check in later.

Nissa - November 14

I teach 8th graders (English) and I'm on the 3rd floor, and a whole hallway away from a bathroom if i need it. Not very convenient for a mother-to-be...and you too....being on your feet for long periods of time...that could cause cramping too. I never sit down on my job...i'm constantly walking around my cla__sroom answering questions, checking work, or just presenting a lesson..today was the first day I sat in a chair. I found that being off my feet eased the cramps that I had. I called my doctor just to see what I could do for the cramping, and they said I could use regular strength tylenol, and just keep my feet up. I agree that we need to take care of ourselves! Its very important that we do!! My appet_te isn't so much....what are you eating, or is your appet_te ok?
