how safe is getting pierced when pregnant? just out of curiousity.

Most peircing places won't do it if they know you're pregnant only because there is a chance it could get infected, I would talk to your doctor if you really want it done & see what he says & then talk to the place you want to get peirced at & see if they'll even do it...I don't see the problem with like ears & that but there is always the chance & some places won't risk it..hope this helps somewhat =) good luck !!

Many places won't pierce pregnant women. Doctors worry about hepat_tis or HIV, and piercings tend to close or never heal on pregnant women. I think this has to do with the body's increased defenses to fight infection. I took out my two-year-old tongue piercing last pregancy due to morning sickness/flu, and it closed within less than a day. This last pregancy, I left in my labret piercing, and my lip closed OVER the jewelry one night. Let me tell you that was kind of hard to remove.
