I am almost 7 weeks and my first OB appt. is Monday, Dec.5...(day before my 31st bday!) and I am very nervous about all the tests they run and such. I am nervous something will be wrong with me or the baby. I am a bit of a worrier and I have anxiety bigtime! Am I crazy for feeling this way....anyone else?? Can anyone help ease my fears???

Marie it's perfectly normal to worry about baby and it's health. I think every woman goes through that. In fact, it doesn't stop with your first ob visit. It last the entire pregnancy. You will have all sorts of test ran throughout your pregnancy. You worry so much because you want your beautiful baby to be healthy and happy. I'm sure everything will be fine and you will be a great mother. I know this doesn't help (because it didn't help with me) but don't worry yourself to death over it!!! lol...good luck!

I know exactly how you feel!!! I felt the same way...I am the kind of person that DREADS the yearly exams and I was so skeptical of the fact I was even preggo that I was sure the Doc would tell me I was just sick or something. One really neat thing you might be able to look forward to is that if you have a pretty high-tech OB then they might give you your 1st ultrasound. You can see the heartbeat on a US at 6 weeks!!!! That was very rea__suring to me...Steph is so right. Just try to stay calm and relaxed. Good luck and keep us posted!

You do not always see the heartbeat at a 6 week ultrasound. If there is no heartbeat to be seen, good doctors will tell you that there is no need to worry because they are not usually totally visable until 7-8 weeks along.

Nice contribution to the topic at hand :(

to Acutally To Marie I had early bleeding during my pregnancy and was scared I was having a miscarriage. I went to the doc and they did an ultrasound. I was just under 6 weeks and we saw the heartbeat! It was the first visable signs of my miracle and there were many to come!!!! Enjoy this because it's the most preciouse time of your life.....Until you lay your eyes on him/her for the first time. Then you discover what true love really is!!!

Actually, you are right and it is good to know because some women may freak out not seeing the heartbeat at 6 weeks, when all they hear on these posts is that some women heard it at that time. My dr said that anything less than 7-8 weeks may be too early for some women, depending on how fast their rate of growth is for that particular baby. Some women see a heartbeat at 5 weeks, some at 6 and some at 7 or 8. Babies all grow at different rates, so I think it was good to tell Marie that and was a good contribution to the postings. I am like Marie and worry about everything too! Everything will be fine! Enjoy your pregnancy!

Marie I just had my beautiful baby girl on September 26th. Just to let you know, when I first found out I was pregnant I wanted to have an abortion. I was so upset and scared. This was not planned. I was so upset that I was going to have to give up my party lifestyle. I really wanted to get an abortion. I am a very spiritual person and I prayed and prayed for God to give me some answers and to guide me through this decision. My boyfriend begged me not to so I didn't. The entire pregnancy was PERFECT! I had no physical problems whatsoever, but I never really felt like i had a bond with my daughter. Even after the ultrasound, although I knew I loved her very much, I couldn't accept the fact that I was going to be a mother. When it came time to deliver and I went to the hospital, the labor was intense. I was really scared. Marie let me tell you something......when my baby girl came out and I put my eyes on her for the very first time, I knew my life had changed forever!!! I fell in love with her at first glance and have been in love with her since. I have never known a love greater than this. I never will again. I love her more than my own life and would gladly give my life to save hers. Looking back at the very beginning of all of this I thank God every day of my life for guiding me in the right direction and letting this beautiful being be a part of my life. I don't know what I did to deserve her. She completes me in every way. You will soon expierence what I am talking about and I know you will feel the same about your little miracle that I do about mine. It's such a precious gift! Just a little piece of information for you......it is the norm for women to have healthy safe pregnancy's with happy healthy babies. The odds of you and your baby being ok are definatly on your side!! So don't worry yourself to death!

I was nervous at my first appt. In fact I normally have low blood pressure, usually between 100/70 and 110/70. but when I went to my first doc visit it read 127/80. I was shocked b/c its never that high, and the girl asked if I was nervous, and I said "yes". I am now 13 weeks, and the last 2 times I went it was normal b/c I dont feel as nervous about the visits.....I kidof know what to expect now. So, my advice is to just know its normal to be nervous, but try as much as possible to relax. Everything will turn out fine.

Thanks again so much for making me feel better! Stephanie, my email is [email protected] I'd love to see pics!!

Lol, I was scared to death, cuz I thought all of my tests were gonna come back bad, and I was scared of the pap smear (cuz it was my first one, I think 18 is a little late to have your first one, but I was really scared of it) But everything was fine, I think its probably more common for everything to be fine than something wrong.

YVETTE - December 4

I WAS ALSO VERY NERVOUS AND STILL FEEL THE SAME WAY. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY RESULTS YET. HAVE YOU? I GUESS WE BOTH NEED TO TAKE IT EASY. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

Stephanie - December 7

Marie, I was just wondering how your first appointment at the doc. went....please let us know!

Marie - December 12

Hey Stephanie....sorry I've not been in touch....been very sick! Morning sickness finally reared its ugly head!!! I ended up having my doctor call me in something because I missed 3 days of work last week....My doctor's appt. on the 5th went well! I had to fill out paperwork, pee in a cup and then they did a blood panel and tested/screened me for everything under the sun! I haven't heard from the doctor, so I called today to see how the results were and everything was fine! So thanks for all the comforting words!!
