Worried about Swine flu and other illnesses that can cause upper respiratory tract infections in pregnancy? Eating at least 7 servings of fruit and vegetables everyday can help reduce your risk. A new study, published in the online issue of Public Health Nutrition, involved more than 1100 mothers age 13-45. It was discovered that the average intake of fruits and vegetables for these women was 4 servings per day, well below the recommended 7 servings. Increasing your intake of these foods not only provides the nutrients and fiber necessary for pregnancy, but may also help fend off or even reduce the symptoms of illnesses. Now that's a reason to start eating.
