Multivitamins Help Prevent Low Birth Weight
Taking a multivitamin while pregnant may help a baby reach a healthy weight better than just taking an iron-folic acid supplement alone. Women who took a multivitamin had a 17% reduction in their risk of having a low birth weight baby, according to studies. Currently , the World Health Organization says an iron-folic acid supplement for a pregnant women is enough but doctors worldwide are now challenging this recommendation say the WHO needs to issue a statement encouraging women to take a multivitamin, which includes iron and folic acid, while pregnant to help reduce the number of low birth weight babies born each year.
