Car Air Bags And Pregnancy

Car Air Bags And Pregnancy
Many pregnant women have worried about the impact of an airbag on their pregnant abdomens. There have been a few reported cases of the air bag causing uterine or placental rupture which could lead to a miscarriage. However, in a study analyzing data on 3,348 accidents that involved pregnant women in the State of Washington, it was found that air bags did not increase a pregnant woman's risk of pregnancy complications when compared to pregnant women in car accidents not involving air bags. The chances of complications seem to arise from the accident itself, and not from the air bag. In fact, air bags can be seen as a good thing to have since they can keep the woman alive during the accident, therefore keeping the fetus alive. It is also advised that all passengers, including pregnancy women, wear seat belts at all times while traveling by car.
