My Husband and I are now 11 weeks along and morning sickness has been a huge problem. Thank god for soda crackers and 7 up ! We have decided to wait until the baby is born to find out the sex of the baby. I hear that the last trimester is a lot more enjoyable that way. We will be buying a few boy outfits and a few girl outfits this way we are prepared. My best friend is also due 2 days before me and she told me that her and her bf will have the nurse put the sex on a piece of paper and in a envelop and if they chose to know the sex the can open the envelop. I wish all you moms out there the very best!!

I am currently 30 wks with my first pregnancy, we are very excited to be having a boy! I am having a hospital birth, my biggest fear is the unexpected. I will have my mom and my husband by my side which hopefully will comfort me some. I hope to have a vaginal birth (not a cesarean). I am going to try to go as long as I can without any drugs but I am not against having any. An epidural scares me, I would like the "walking epidural". I am also scared of having an episiotomy, I hope I don't need to have it! I am not scared of the pain so much as I am scared of not knowing how I will handle it all and when will it happen. I don't like surprises, I am a very organized person. If I could know the exact date of the birth, I would probably feel a lot better and be more prepared.

Planning on having a waterbirth with midwife in attendance at local hospital. My husband and his family had quite some reservations (my husband's sister had serious complications and needed a c-section) so they are worried a waterbirth is unsafe and keep trying to tell me how wonderful c-sections are and how safe they are etc.... I am not having any of it and my husband is now quite happy with the idea of a waterbirth after I dragged him along to various doctor and midwife appointments so he could vent his concerns and ask questions. After all a hospital offers us the best of both worlds.... the birth i've always dreamed of with the security of doctors on hand to intervene if necessary. My husbands parents still aren't convinced, their loss because now i don't want them anywhere near the hospital. I just hope the baby gets into the right position and engages so I have a good shot at this. Am more afraid of c-section; surgery / needles / afterpain / potential infections etc... than I am of a natural birth, I just know the water will be soothing and help everything soften up so my little one can slide out.

I am not afraid of labor, but I am terrified of getting an epidural!!! The thought of a needles, yet alone one going into my spine is a very chilling thought. My mom says she did w/out it, and so could I. Of course her labor stories are terrifying as well.
