I prefare only my partner to be in there, he was there during my 1st baby's delivery and I would want him to be around this second time because he was a big help for me. Another person that could be there also is my mum if my husband is not available at the moment.

Anyone who won't get on your nerves or distract your partner. My sister was at my first son's birth and I had trouble getting my husband's attention because he was joking around so much with my sister. And I wouldn't recommend this event for small children. I think my son would be traumatized to see me in the type of pain that goes along w/ natural childbirth.

I don't mind if family comes in for brief visits between contractions during early labor, but when it gets down to the wire, I just want my husband there. It's not so much a modesty thing with me as it is that I get annoyed and overwhelmed having a lot of people around when I'm in pain.

I really want my husband there and my children. I am not comfortable with my parents or friends in the room. It is a very intimate and "indiscrete" time and I want to share that with my own family. I had a doula with the 1st and not with the other 3.

My Husband, and my Mother. They were both there for my other two births and It was very comforting so I do not want to change it.
